Please please please tell me you are joking with me! That was a relay split. Unofficial, inaccurate, meaningless. Do you really think Roesler would hang with the A & M girls in an open 400? If so, then Oregon has the most retarded track program in the world. Here is a girl, as you propose, that would probably score in the open 400, and instead they sit her out and score zero points. Yup, even though she started 10 meters ahead of Beard and finished 20 meters behind, you want to give credibilty to a relay split. Video does not lie.
Let me adjust what I said earlier. Not much of a track guy are you? Relay splits at NCAAs are FAT taken from start/finish to start finish and very official. You will notice they don't split the first two legs except for total time due to the three turn stagger.
But I'm willing to go with your numbers if you want. According to you, this irrefutable video footage shows Roesler 20 meters behind Beard at the finish. She was 1.88 seconds behind at the end so this means - according to you - she covered the last 20 meters in 1.88 seconds. Itw as obvious from this video footage that Roesler was slowing down at the finish so that means that at her slowest, she was running 37.6 pace for the 400. Wait, on second thought, going with your "video evidence" is really, really, stupid.
I will say one thing though, aside from making fun of how little you know about the sport. While hindsight is 20/20, judging from BOTH her legs at NCAAs, her FAT leg at regionals, and her FAT leg at Pac 10, she should have run the open 400 at Nationals. Her 800 was not on par with her 400 at the end part of the season. This is not a judgement on her coaches as she was trained as an 800 specialist, just a retroactive acknowledgement that the 800 was not the best place for her at this meet.
