Michigan played Utah and Western Michigan this year. Do those schools have football teams?
Your Boilermakers also played Western Michigan and LOST to Wake Forest of all teams. Since when did Wake Forest become such a powerhouse football team?
The only other undefeated team Miami Hurricanes have played such powerhouses as Florida A&M, Temple, Connecticut, and Rutgers (to whom they were losing in the 4th quarter).
As far as barely beating your Purdue Boilermakers (and the Buckeyes did WIN that game, and you LOST), there are only a few things to be said. 1) Buckeyes beat you in in your own stadium; 2) The Buckeye defense (the team's strength) held you to two field goals; 3) Maurice Clarett, perhaps the best back in the nation when healthy, was limited to 52 yards because he wasn't in the game long. Shoulder injury has kept him down the last three weeks; 4) Your players and coaches all thought that on 4th and 1 with the game on the line that there would be a run play. Tressel called a pass play, and your defense could not compete when one on one with Buckeye receivers, and Michael Jenkins made what may turn out to be the best play in OSU history; 5) Scoreboard!
Playing for the national championship will be OSU vs. perhaps Washington State (whom the Buckeyes have already pounded this year) because Miami will lose to either Pittsburg or Virginia Tech. Buckeyes will win due to superior defense and special teams and solid offense.
