I wouldn't be shocked if Teg only ran the 10K. He may have a better chance there, given the competition in the 5K. It is the day before, and he is entered. He has the 'A' standard for both. If he doesn't run the 5K, that opens a space for Bumbi.

Plus, most people who have Bumbalough ahead of Teg have Teg going in the 10000.
Thought a little more, and here's what I see:
1500: Wheating, Brown, Lomong
5000: Lagat, Solinsky, Bumbalough
10000: Rupp, Teg, Curtis
I think Charles Jock of UC Irvine has a shot at the 3rd spot. He won Mt. SAC in 1:45.1 early in the season. Assuming he peaks well he could beat Primm (who he has already defeated this season) and Andrews.
I think that there are a lot of guys with a shot in the 800. And that race is so unpredictable, who knows. But my gut is telling me that the two really experienced pros (KD and Symmonds) will make it, plus one of the collegians (take your pick: Jock, Primm, Andrews...)
Wasn't aware that Lagat is running the 5k. Either way, he should definitely make the team

Are you kidding me? He has been saying the last two years that is all he is focusing on now. Also, Solinsky is only running the 5000 this year. He is focusing on the 10000 next year. Wheating will run the 1500 and nothing else at USAs.

Lagat is not one of those athletes I find particularly interesting. I generally don't read/listen to his interviews so forgive my ignorance.
As an aside: why no love for the women? I much prefer the womens races..
In post race interviews after Pre Wheating had "no idea" what race he was going to ran at Nationals. Personally, I think his best shot on the world stage is in the 1500.
Tegenkamp looked fantastic at Pre. He's definitely coming around at the right time. No way Bumbalough will beat him.
Desiree runs under 31:13 to make the team in the 10,000.

Picks subject to change based on shifts in who is running what event and injuries.
No way that 2 time champion Lomong is not in the top 3 at USATF. Also, Wheating is a lock. The fight will be for 3rd. I dont know if Manzano dropped out because he was hurt or because it was a brain fart but the guy can race when it is time to race so I would give him the nod over a more fit Torrance and Brown. Leer, Ulrey, Webb and Jager are on the outside looking in. I would also say that Kyle Miller is a possibility for the 3-7 positions. I think he would have to get a little lucky to place 3rd but he looks good lately.
Those are some very good picks SomeActualData. I disagree with the 1500, Wheating would be the only one I would think would make the team of those you have listed. Manzano and Lomong both have better chances than Torrence or Brown, they have proven it in the past. The womens 800 is also too much of a crap shoot to have three listed in the book ticket category, no way does that happen. Other than that, I agree with everything you posted and look forward to watching the races in a month.
The only two people that I think also belong in your discussion are Jennifer Rhines in the 10 and Charles Jock.
I predict Rupp will eat the most bundaegi and Felix will eat none!

Looks like SAD is picking more based on this seasons results than the past, could work out or not depending on who is where in their training. I'd probably pick Wheating, Brown, Manzano (in that order) for the 15.
Give me a break people; did you watch the Pre 5k? Teg destroyed Bumbi and he is coming around at the right time. Bumbi, great season, but not yet ready to run fast when he needs to (those last two months looked good, but the season is just beginning). Teg makes the 5k easily; he will not run the 10k this time around!!!!
