very strung out, elloit on changa's shoulder, 417 first mile
This pace means the NCAA meet record of 13:28 (Cragg, 2003) is in play.
How many different uniforms does Northern Arizona have? I've seen them in white, blue, and yellow, you never know what to look for.
2000m 5:23 - Chelanga, Heath, Sambu, Estrada, rest of the pack starting to catch up.
The first three look pretty comfortable, but Estrada and Korir are kind of ragged-looking.
Sambu takes the lead from Chelanga - NCAA XC all over.
im calling heath ftw huge kick
3000m 8:06.77 - Sambu, Chelanga, Heath, Korir, Estrada - gap to Darling and rest of pack.
Chelanga takes the lead back - Estrada moves up and takes over from Chelanga. 1600m to go.
Looks like it will be a new National Meet Record.
Now Leonard Korir takes over at the front - three Kenyans starting to gap Estrada and Heath a bit?
3 kenyans opened 5 y gap
10:52.5 at 4000m - down to Chelanga, Korir, and Sambu - I think Heath is done.
Second pack is Darling and Ahmed, Schwab, Derrick. Then Hubers and Poore a bit further back.
500m to go - Korir, Sambu, Chelanga, Estrada.
~12:58 high at the bell - Korir and Chelanga both hurting a lot - Korir pulls away - celebrates last 30m - 13:25.5, NCAA meet record.
1. Korir
2. Chelanga
3. Sambu
4. Estrada
Unfortunately video cut away after those four.
Poor strategical race by Sam for an indoor track. Weighted way too long to try and take back the lead. Good effort though, he'll be back outdoors.
If there was a track equivalent to the basketball term "posterized," then it happened to Luke Puskedra - he was getting lapped as Korir finished and got a long closeup in the replays to show for it.
