And he didn't throw a tantrum.... very in control after the race talking with AlSal. It was a good effort. He'll most likely have a really good summer.

Yes, very good effort by Webb. I don't see how he got "owned."
Centro ran great after looking very flat here two weeks ago. Webb- well he beat German, was right behind Sammy, and got in some valuable "experience" in his 14th resurrection.
Nelson is a shocker, the 10K guy walking down the miler.
The best performance of the weekend was Elliot Heath with his 25-sec last 200 in the 5K. Greer deserves props for fighting back in the 800. Too bad the PSU guys were no-shows.
I too think it was fine race for Webb and several other Americans which was fun race to watch...exciting!

This is correct.
Webb did not run bad tactically. He ran well. If he had been at full blast, his kick surely would have been amazing to watch. But he had had the flu. Not a three day flu, or a week flu. AlSal said he had a three week flu. I had that last summer, and while not on his level, it removed my punch for a long long time. And I did not have to jump in with top flight runners and have to impress. Also, AlSal said he wanted to get him used to losing so he could win. To get rid of the all-or-nothing attitude. Seems to me he is on target. Nelson and others ran great races, but Webb was positioned to win if he was at full fitness. You have to get there to know, and then he did not have it.
Him running, and Fernandez, brought the others attention they might not otherwise have gotten, and then they earned it. A good situation all around. The more Webb runs, the more I want to watch, and the more I see others and get pulled into the excitement of good running. Struggles or no, this is good for the interest in running.
Wow, Webb managed to finish 6th in a race with 10000m guys and college kids. I was there, and he was never a factor.
If Webb had raced Solinsky or Lagat, you would have had to face up to the awful truth. The present Webb is the #15 3000m runner in the NCAA, and he isn't even that good in the mile. He would not even make the NCAA finals right now, let alone score any points.
He needs to stop making excuses about the flu, stop whining to the media, be a MAN, and get some real training in.
yeaaaaaaaaaaaah webb got owned finishing all of less than 3 seconds behind the winner....being owned would be more like 45-70seconds back.

technically you may be right, but the difference is that Webb is aiming to peak in June for USAs while the NCAA types are gunning for ncaa indoors so they are in much sharper shape.
Webb's race was fine not great - satisfactory for this time of the year. Lagat probably came through 3000 at 7:38. Webb was 10 seconds back after running in lane 2 the whole way and having to navigate a huge crowd.
Not bad, not great

Coach D, as always you prove you're an F'tard of gigantic proportion.
Webb looked much better than last week, and will round back into shape quickly. They arent' excuses, they are reasons. The only excuse is you, a sad excuse for a track fan, and a human being. F'tard.

What the hell is a F'tard?

Are you seriously asking that question? The answer=Coach D.
I'm sure if you think about F'tard long enough you might figure it out.
This is equivalent to a 13:37 5K...how is this bad after just having the flu? Serious idiots on here.
"tactically Webb ran a terrible race". Has Webb ever ran well in a tactical race?
He was in perfect position with a lap+ to go...right on Nelson in 2nd place...I thought he had it won. He just doesn't have the wheels right now.
On the final heat of the 3k:
There were too many people in that race - especially for an indoor track (even if oversized). I'm surprised there wasn't a major trip up at any point.
German: Not the best of races but 7:53 is still respectable. He was up there for most of the race and ran out of gas late. I suspect his improvements from here on out will be incremental but improvements nonetheless. Running is a slow process, after all.
Webb: Getting out kicked by Nelson was surprising. I figured if he was within striking distance with a lap to go in a 3k - NO ONE could out kick him. That said though, running is still a process and he should just stay patient and let the times come to him. It is still only indoors after all and low 7:5x is something you can build on going into outdoors. You cannot will your body into fast times but only best utilize what your body gives you.

I had it at 24.5. There's a good chance he ran under 25 sec for that monster kick.

Webb got outkicked by Matt Centrowitz, the top finishing collegian of the race. German F. was really quite disappointing, getting outkicked by a half dozen collegians and finishing back in around 10th or 11th place. I don't know what is wrong with German, but he seems to be going backwards...at least he didn't fall down or quit this time.

I used to believe, but now....I'm beginning to wonder.....!???!!?? What is it going to take to get him back to his top form and beyond? So many guys now are running sub 4 it's crazy! What once looked pretty special, is now seeming a little
ho-hum! Oh well, I'll just have to keep my head up and look forward!
Sub-8:00 and beat German Fernandez. That is win-win right there. Good day for Webby!
