The Human Genome Project proved no such thing. Different races have slightly different sets of genes. After correcting for lifestyle factors, there still remain diseases that effect races in different ways. Tay-Sachs, and Sickle-Cell Anemia are but 2 examples.

When any species becomes geographically separated into 2 or more groups for long periods of time, they genetically diverge. 60,000 years ago, several groups of humans left Africa, and one group stayed behind. The groups that left (today's Europeans, Asians, etc..) have diverged genetically from the original primitive Africans that stayed behind. This is Evolutionary Biology 101. How anyone in 2010 cannot understand this is beyond me.
Of course we now have socialists who try to correct for these differences with affirmative action quotas and income redistribution, but ultimately they are doomed to failure.
You may philosophically believe that all races are exactly the same, but actual science doesn't support this viewpoint.
In the most obvious case, you have failed to realize that our genes code for skin color. If you have a different skin color than I do, then you have a slight different set of genes (actually alleles) that code for melanin. If you still have trouble understanding, I can give you more examples.

Nice fantasy, more like surviving Union troops (ones who didn't die for nothing) join with the old Confederates to lynch the "freed" slaves who even flirted with local women, things go on almost unchanged for another hundred years.
