I took the CFA initially as a prerequisite (level 1) and then for my CV in case I changed jobs. It really isn't that hard. Spend the week before practicing past papers and putting the material in your short-term memory and if you are vaguely smart, you will pass easily. If you wish to remember the material five years later that is different. Personally, I didn't I am more interested in being happy, health, career, making money etc than remembering stuff that is theoretically useful for my job but in reality barely used. Good luck.
