We do have a North American Games...but it's called the Cardinal Invitational and they have it every year at the campus of Stanford University.

Canada would win medals in men's 800m (reed) and women's 100mH (lopes-schlieps) and maybe men's shot (dylan armstrong) but unlikely in many other disciplines. I doubt Mexico or any other central American teams would do much. Why not just make a USA vs Jamaica duel meet?
They do. It's called Penn Relays
We have the Olys and IAAF WCs that's why. The USA is the #1 track team in the world. Residents of the County of Los Angeles brought back 9 medals alone from Berlin 2009. That's NINE MEDALS from one county (not state, not country) !
Ten L.A. athletes medalled at Berlin 2009. One S.F. athlete medalled at Berlin 2009. A total of 11 Californians medalled at Berlin 2009.
At least there is a canal that cuts through the Americas.
There is no way to take a boat to cut through Europe and Asia.
Continents seperated by mountains?
Come on.

Because America would absolutely dominate everything. It would pretty much be the USA chapmionships, round #2. Noone wants to see that again.
That's selfish of Noone to want to see that.
On a side note, I understand that this Noone guy is pretty fast. Someone posted once that Noone can beat Bolt!
North and South America are effectively one continent for competition purposes because you're talking about roughly the same number of countries as in Europe, or Asia, or Africa. or the Pacific rim.
The canal doesn't seperarte the actual continental borders.
There is absolutely no need for an additional meet called the North American Games, nor would there be any interest in it. There's barely even any interest in the Pan American Games, for which the U.S. squad is usually made up of our fourth and fifth best people in each event.

No one wanted to see the USA champs the first time this year.
The rest of the world competes on a later schedule than the U.S. They basically take the fall off except for Australia/New Zealand (somebody correct me on this).
World Cross is at the end of March while World Champs/Olympics for track are in August. The USATF sets their schedule according to the NCAA schedule (which is set to the academic year schedule).
What we get left with are a bunch of tired athletes on the collegiate side because they are peaking for November instead of February(US Champs)/March for cross country. Same thing for track in that they're peaking in June (and being over-raced) instead of August(albeit only a select few will be racing that far into the summer). Since there are limited racing options in the US in June and July the post-collegiate's are forced to race earlier in the year.
The solution that may never happen is to move the collegiate season later (people will b*tch about the carry-over into the holidays...tough. Football, basketball and others have to deal with it too). Then you would move US track champs a month later into late July as the rest of the world is currently carrying out now. There would be more participation from our top athletes and the obvious fact that they would be in better shape.
USA Pros are on the IAAF schedule. They do elective races in Eur/etc. before Worlds and Olys in between the OT/USAouts and Oly/WCs. Pro level, IAAF, USC/UCLA (the two dominant Oly/WC schools in the world) and many So Cal schools take winters off skipping indoors altogether.

Again. That's called the NACAC Championships. They hold XC champs, U23 champs (which is actually the one that recently happened where Charles Jock ran 1:45 to win the 800), and Senior Champs.
I've never heard of the NACAC senior championships.....
but yea this North America games is a dumb idea.

Moron.
Africa has more people than both S and N America combined.

Ok, it's called the NACAC Championships. Still, why not call it the North American Games? In the same vein, why not call USATFs the US Open? Obviously this stuff doesn't matter to hardcore track fans, but we're all watching anyway.
we just need to make a bigger deal of the NACACs. have qualifiers for it and stuff like that. Have it be big like euros and africas
what the f*ck is the Australia Games? where were they last held?
Do you mean Oceania Champs? The biggest joke in Area Championships.
Because there is no North American who actually had the talent to make it happen. The North American running nerds are afraid of a real commercial business such as baseball, football, basketball. The European running nerds don't compete against so much competition - OK ............... G...O...A...L - that's about as good as it gets.
Most of the runners in the 70's were narcissists. Only a few got the idea. We lack leaders except a few. The few are now showing that it wasn't that hard to do better. There was a time when a 13:20 5k made you a star. Now you have to run 12:55 to be a star. A 27:30 10k guy should go - shit they are so good, we should have a North American Championship. But that is highly unlikely - cause after all they are supreme narcissists.
actually they should have worlds every 3 non summer olympics years. what other sport has no major championships every 4 years. in other continents athletes at regionals risk a career ending injury at a championships that don't matter to them nor to the fans. the usa lose tons of money and 1/4 of our chances to medal at a major by treating every four years as a bye year.

Why should we include South America. Make the North American games more exclusive.
North America = few counties that would participate in organized athletics. The Australian games is actually a National Games/Championships not just continental.
We already have the Pan Am Games...but it seems to have faded from limelight. I remember in the 80s and even the early 90s it was a big deal to make the Pan Am Games. Today you just don't hear much about it.
