UW, Minn, and Oh St are the 3 best programs with cross country and track both. They're not combined. UM should NOT combine as men's programs always suffer when they do so. Laplante should not be allowed to fire Ron.
Certainly Warhurst didn't have a great year, only scoring 5 points at the confrence meet, but that was 5 more than McGuire!

We don't know if this true, but if it was then UM would be wise to look right across the corridor and give the job to one of the most underappreciated coaches in the country in Mike McGuire. MM doesn't ever look for the spotlight, and just focuses on coaching his athletes, and is one of the most respected coaches around. His results are consistent and high level. He bleeds blue and gold and would do a great job in a combined program. Of the Big 10 programs PSU, IU, PU, MSU are combined and UW, Iowa work together. Only OhioSt, Ill, and Minn still have separate programs.
Michigan's mens track team is super-dysfunctional right now. This includes arrests from drinking, stealing, academic fraud, and then you throw on a very last place finish at conference and the new AD is obviously going to make changes.
McGuire magic is gone (should've went to Stanford). They scored ZERO points this Spring!

Gee, perhaps he needs some blood work...bleeding blue and gold sounds like a definite problem.
I don't know this guy too well, but he's had more than a little success over the years - as has Warhurst. Both those guys are first rate coaches.
Warhurst's troubles may have accelerated when he turned over the reigns, as the program may have invested more in other areas, leaving him with fewer resources.
I don't think people sufficiently value Warhurst's ability to recruit top level talent. He pulls in 4:00 high school kids all the time.
Ok, then he gets criticized when those guys stall for a while. But what people don't realize is that some of those guys get dinged up by having been pushed so hard at a young age. They may sub perform for a while before rebounding and doing better than ever (Webb, Willis, Acosta, Barnicle are examples.)

Maize and Blue? Surely, you are confusing UM with Carleton College.
