it might be a lot to ask of Chris to run three of the fastest times in American history in a roll!...29:59, 12:56, and now you want to do it again?...he is not a machine!
An example of limiting yourself mentally.
If someone were to run all out in three races in the same period of time as Solinsky, and they ran 30:59, 14:46, and then 14:44 to top it off, would you say before the 14:44 race that "They are not a machine!" You might, but it is perfectly reasonable to say that an athlete is capable of putting in 3 good performances for themselves in the same period of time that Solinsky has had.
Thing is, he's do for an off one, you can't wear socks that long and expect that at some point you won't have a little fold in the socks and develop a blister.
I say a wincing 13:03 because he's tough. And he'll look very pissed afterwards.
I second the wincing 13:03.
these are not originary performances....I don't it is fair to compare aveage performances VS some of the fastest times ever for an American.
either way I say Chris runs a 13:19
13:01.41 for FTW

What? Sorry...you make no sense. What kind of pace do you think they'll be aiming for? AR pace is a big deal for most people in the race. Tariku and Merga both just went 12:53, and Eliud has been tanking since his 12:51 early in the year, and hasn't run faster than 12:50 in 6 years.
So....unless i'm missing something, you have some insane opinion about Africans that makes them all equal to K. Bekele in world record form.
For most of the Africans, AR pace would be a bit too much, and for the best in this race, it would be PERFECT to bang home a pr. Tariku's pr is 12:52...going out at AR pace...what could be more perfect to get under his pr? Same with Merga.

Agreed. you are making a lot of sense. (Not since).
Solinsky is due (not do) a good 5k, considering how badly his recent 5k was run, tactically.
I don't think the winner will run under 13 here.
Solinsky goes 13:05

Why are you quoting MRR82 with those corrections? He didn't spell sense wrong or due?
I think his post does make a lot of sense. 12:53 pace is perfect for the top guys in this race. If they can maintain American record pace, it puts them in a perfect position to PR. (Minus Eliud who probably will never pr again)
13:08.82
13:20
12:48.32 I got a feeling !!!!!

He runs his first mile in 3:45, followed by a 1:41 half, surges in the middle with a 42s 400, accelrates with a 9.68 100m, back strokes through the steeple pit, long jumps 30 feet on the back stretch, laps Tegenkamp (then prceeds to lift and hurl him 76 feet), and maintains pace til the last hundred. Unfortunately the earth collapses in on itself (the Mayans had made a miscalculation in their projections) and thus no new Ameican record.
hahahaha best post in this thread.
11:22
12:52
Pacer thru 3k in 742-44ish, but the pace lags due to the competitive nature of the race from 3k to 4200. Winner will be 12:58 at best. Solinsky in 1302 Teg 1305
my best guess
He did run kind of a poor race tactically when he ran 12:56, so maybe a second or two if he can race better. I will say sub 13 for sure if not an American record as well.

Teg will not run 12:53-4. Teg will also not beat Solinsky, unless Chris falls down or pulls a hammy during the race.
I agree Teg 1/2 second in front of Solinsky, but 13:02; Teg doesn't need Chris to run poorly or get hurt to beat him - the history is there.
