Wasn't USA club nationals held there before? Like 2004 or 2005?

It would be terrible for NCAA XC, though.
Just great Vin - 5 - 2K loops. Now we will need a lap counter at the finish. This is not a track meet its cross country. Will we have lapped runners on this crap course. What a joke.
Here are the fastest performances at E.P Tom Sawyer Park As of October 1, 2009.
Nats has the potential to be smokin fast if the turf is dry and hard. NAIA's a few years ago were very muddy, and while decent, the times were not exceptionally fast.

Rumor has it that Vin tried to get U of P coach Conner to go in on a joint bid, though I can't imagine Rob would go for the horse track.
There are decent courses in Oregon, although I disagree that Blue Lake was particularly good (it's pancake flat), but it's probably a lot better than the Meadows.
Fort Vancouver (just across the river from Portland) hosted the USA championships a couple of times and its a great course. Due to the base there, I think there are some restrictions as to its use, but it's been done several times.. There was a smaller college championship on it last year.
Personally, I like the McIver course in Estacada as well, but it's about 30 miles outside of Portland - so probably too far, but it could accommodate the field.
They had USATF clubs at the Meadows (attached as a second-class, afterthought event to the NXN) and it was a disaster. This is a stupid idea and makes the state look like it doesn't even know what a xc course should look like.
The McIver course is beautiful! Somewhat fast, but still "real" cross country. Enough of this Fall Grass Track Championships nonsense. Everyone knows the top track studs will win when it's basically a track race. Let the mudders and hilltoppers have a chance for once!
McIver's a nice course, but I feel that it's worse than PM from a logistical standpoint. It would be difficult accommodating all the athletes and fans in terms of spectating, parking, nearby hotels etc.

bad enough they have nxn there...
let's get these guys on a real course
You mean like a golf course? There are very few courses that are used just for cross country races whether it's a golf, frisbee golf, horse racetrack or whatever else.
How about Des Moines :)
portland meadows failed as a horse racing venue since so cal now dominates that sport in the u.s.
that whole area around portland meadows is being converted to cheesy outlet malls and big box stores parcel by parcel.
the adjacent property next to portland meadows is now home depot and other china shadow outlets.
portland meadows is up for sale. a warehouse or mall will bne replacing the horse track very soon.
How long before Nike has to move NXN?
