Remember, Pre and USATF are only 1 week apart now. Maybe not even doable for sprinters (after 4 heats of the 100).
Very seriously doubt anybody will run 5000+ at USATF and PRE. BTW, Teg is entered in the 1500 (only) at USATF.

This is why I like Solinsky and Lagat. They just get out there and compete at different distances in fast races, whether in Europe or the U.S., whereas Rupp will only go to Europe in the late summer and Teg will not compete very often, and only at five and under.
good point, coach D. But it will also be interesting to see what Duane Solomon can run. Didn't he run a 1:44 relay split, maybe at Penn this year?
Solomon actually ran slower than Andrews at the High Performance meet at Occidental College on 5/22.
Symmonds, Khadevis, Karjuan Williams are all scheduled to race in the New York Diamond Meet. Right now (with Symmonds not having raced yet this year, at least outdoors) Andrews is ahead of ALL of them. Including Solomon.

So Rupp skips one meet and it's like his indoor season never happened?
Did you see the long two part interview he did with Flotrack after the WC's last year?
He is very interactive with fans LIVE.
It just the internet is a cesspool for him and many other athletes.
He has gone on record, in a video interview stating that he is aware of the crazy stuff that gets said and that all one can do is pray for such people.
--I am not religious, but gotta say I agree the dude the ahol trolls here, and what the Brojo's have allowed (as someone wrote yesterday) is crazy. And as that person wrote, the Brojo's should be ashamed at what they have permitted...
Another aspect for all...is just don't get overly interested in any athlete...we have no right to know what they are up to all the time.

I am, I just have a sense of humor too. I hate pretty much all the bashing that goes on around here, but I do find the "not Rupp certified" stuff humorous and I wouldn't be surprised if he laughs at that stuff.
I also think it's one of the Rupp critizisms that can actually be warranted.
Rembember, we can be fans but not agree with everything without thinking or reason.
Thus far in 2010 Europe has not been Rupp certified. I can't wait until it is.

You do realize that it should have been "not Salazar certified." Alberto, I am sure, would be more than happy to have taken the guff for his athlete.
What people on this board do not focus on, and really should consider, is that Alberto has completed an arc from being his own coach and not too careful, to learning all those lessons (often in the harshest of ways) and finally implementing them in his stewardship of others.
Looking back, I practically would have killed to have had a coach who was paying attention that much, who was that focused and dialed in.

Absolutely, I think that's what makes it more amusing. Haters will go to extremes and ignore the obvious to make something out of very little.
That's why I think it's one that you have no choice but to embrace because the haters will never let it die and every time Alberto goes ultra protective it's bound to come up. I hope Rupp can laugh it off, because I certainly gave up on getting worked up over it.
Like I said pretty much everything that is said negative about Rupp I can't stand. The guy is an amazing runner and a stand up guy. His consistency is simply phenomenal.
If you saw the interviews with Rupp after Peyton Jordan, you got the sense that he was going to rest awhile and that his focus for peaking would be later in the summer. Although he didn't say that directly. In fact I think that was the whole point about them wanting to get in a 10K in early May. They knew they weren't going to do a distance race again for awhile. And of course in an off year the ultimate goal is probably just to not get injured. That means not knocking yourself out to do any all races.

I was thinking the same thing about Rupp, but then I noticed how many Daimond League Races there are this year. These are the remaining meets.
# Eugene
# Lausanne
# Gateshead
# Paris
# Monaco
# Stockholm
# London
# Zurich
# Brussels
Figure he'll be at Pre, and USATFs, and then there are still 8 more potential big races to run. Even if he only does half, that would still put him at 7 big races in outdoors (a 10k, Pre, USATFs, and the hypothetical 4 of the last 8 Diamond League races).
7 races is a fair number... IF he actually get's to Europe starting in July.
Why not have Robbie Andrews run world jrs? They are only a few hours drive up the coast in New Brunswick, Canada...
Coach D wrote:
Might be too close to NCAAs for those running in prelims and finals. Easier for Andrews to recover with only 2 races, a 2 week break from regionals, and another 2 week break to USATF.
What I'd really like to see, though, is for Robby to go to Lausanne.

This is why you're in special needs classes...Rupp did 8 indoor races from 800 up to 5k, including prs in the mile/3k/5k, and outdoors has done a 5k and 10k(pr second fastest all time). And it's still first half of June. Sorry....since when does this constitute hardly racing?

Solinsky has run 4? races all year. 6 less than Rupp. and this is why you like Solinsky? Lagat also has run less races so far indoors/outdoors.
Get a grip on reality. Rupp will likely have run about 15 races by the time the year is over. How many does he need to run in a year to please you? 10 times more than Solinsky?
I happen to know someone in a position to know at an organization which regularly hosts Not Your Regular Runners and he tells me Nice Young Runner Rupp will be tackling a distance most of you will not expect in the near future. If Necessary, Girls, Now You Can Moan.

Holy smoke, that's what I've been waiting & hoping for -- Galen Rupp is finally going to debut at 12k on the roads! Woot!
rupp was on the provisional start list for hengelo on may 30th, for about a week, then his name was taken off the list with no explanation.
