Ajee Wilson just split 2:00 in the 800 leg of the SMR at New Balance Nationals.
anyone know if ajee wilson plans to run the USATF junior meet in iowa which qualifies the top 2 for world juniors in moncton?
i hope so.
andrews is in the 800.
hasay is in the 1500 and 3k.
if wilson ran the 800 and hopefully doubled back in the 1500, the world juniors could be good to USA's young distance runners.
Ajee (15yrs old) just spilt 2:00 on an 800m relay leg anyone know what meet, was it NON?
It was at NewB-Nats (formerly NON)

yeah, once upon a time there was a 17 or 18 year old girl who ran a 14:30 for 5k and she was also a 5k world champion, named tirunesh dibaba and she had a friend named meseret who ran 8:40 for 3k at age 15 or 16. these 2 girls would have long hit puberty by now and would be about 24 and 26 years old respectively, does anyone here know what happened to them?
Yeah, but they were really three years older than what they claimed. LOL African calendars....lol

even if that is true the point is they were good at a young age and kept getting better.
i am basically saying just because a athlete is good at a young age does not mean they cant improve a whole lot.
if a young athlete does not improve, it is do to not having good training for that specific athlete.
there is no reason runners like ajee wilson, hasay, robby andrews etc. cant keep getting better until their mid 20's to early 30's, a 25 year old person should be better than when they were 15-18 year old.
I agree that phenoms like Hasay, Robby, Chelsey S., Ajee Wilson have many personal best in their future. The future looks very bright if they can stay healthy, focused, and continue getting great training, and career guidance.
It will be interesting to see if Ajee Wilson can break Kim Gallagher's legendary high school 800m record. Miss A. Wilson seem better suited then all before her as she is a solid 400m runner and great miler; therefore, barring injury or drastic body change the record maybe in jeopardy for the next 2 years!
Ajee Wilson's performance of 2:00.5 800m relay leg is the best performance in High School in any event over the last 15 years. I thought it over hard and it was close between her single relay run and German Fernandez's famous double- and Ajee's performance won!
If you look at how many college women could spilt 2:00.5 on an 800m relay leg you honestly couldn't name 10 (Ten); however, if you do the same for the number of college men who could pull of German's double the number is easily over 20 (Twenty). Looking at it from another point of view if you look at which is closer to world classs according to performance list again Ajee Wilson's 2:00.5 wins again!!!
I have to disagree. My top three high school peformances would be:
1.) Alan Webb's (Sr) HSR 3:53
2.) Jeff Demps's (Sr) HSR 10.01
3.) Ajee Wilson's (So) 2:00.5 relay leg
4.) German Fernandez (Sr) incredible double
now if your limiting it to middle and long distance events by a female then Ajee would be my first pick as best in the last 15 yrs. Now if your taking in consideration her classification versus those ahead of her than I could see your point of her's beating all others.
Don't forget Madeleine Meyers, sophomore from WA, running a 4:41 mile in NY.
This year best performances
1.) Ajee Wilson's (So) 2:00.59 relay leg
big gap
2.) Zavon Watkins (So) 1:47 relay leg
3.) Madele Meyers's (So) 4:41 mile
4.) Rosa brothers (Jr) 8:44 and 8:52-3 (2 mile)
Maddie Meyers win at the Dream Mile was very impressive, especially considering who she beat. She is the real deal. But I agree that Ajee Wilson's performance was by far the best.
I would have to put Emily Sisson's 9:51 TIME TRIAL (with male pacers though) in practice right behind Ajee Wilson though... very close to the top of the list. And I would say Megan Goethals and Aisling Cuffe running 10:01 and 10:02 full miles also better than the Rosas. The number of HS girls running under 10 for 3200 (which they did) is under 10.

Who said they ever hit puberty? Their training and eating habits kept it from ever happening.
There are many great young high school distance runners yet to graduate to college and the pros; however, none has more potential than Ajee Wilson. The 800m and 1500m ladies better snatch and enjoy the records they achieve now because in 5-7 years Ajee will run 51.3 for 400m, 1:54.2 for 800m, and 3:53.5 for 1500m. The future of American female distance running is the amazing Ajee Wilson!
Ajee definitely has the talent to become an American Record holder but to put a timeline and such lofty goals on a young lady this early in her career is a bit much. The two runners who impressed me the most at the meet:

continue to watch Ajee after the finish line moments after closing a 80-90m gap on the leader to win, she is fatigued but not that much- that is INSANE. Although I don't agree with the decision to skip World Junior and run the Open USATF Championships- I could see why they are going for a faster field, she's ready for sub 2:01.5 or faster.
Ajee have more opportunities to compete at World Jrs but couldn't she go for a fast time against the Junior and grab a World Jr medal. Chance for three medals at three Jr Championships 2010, 2012, 2014.
Emily's 4:48 was scary as well. The young lady was out of it with 400m to go. You could visible see the change in her turnover at 290m to go and it was amazing, then she kicked again with 80m left. SCARY young women are AJEE and EMILY! Congratulations on two great performances.
Ajee Wilson name has just been added to the field of Jrs at USA Championships which means she will be trying for a spot for the upcoming World Junior Track and Field Championships. Jordan Hasay will be running the 1500m.

What do you think Ajee personal best will be by the end of this track season?
There are a handful of Junior athletes who have great potential--
Jordan Hasay is well-known, and after a promising first year of college while undergoing body changes, is poised for a huge breakthrough. looking forward to more of her at Oregon.
Chelsey Sveinsson has huge talent, and was unfortunately injured almost all of this track season, but she'll be back. Meyers' mile was impressive, as were the 2miles from Goethals and Cuffe, but don't forget about Sveinsson - she'll be back big this fall and next spring.
Lukas Verzbicas--not quite at Fernandez' level, but a very bright future indeed.
And Miss Wilson. looking forward to seeing what she can do in some open races this summer!
Not to mention talents like the Rosas, Emily Sisson, Aisling Cuffe...the list goes on.
All of those are tremendous talents and look forward to following all of their careers. I must say Ajee Wilson should be put in category of her own when mentioning rising young American stars. She certainly is much farther along than Jordan Hasay was as a Sophomore and Chelsey Sveinsson. Jordan and Chelsey are going to be forces to be reckon with on the U.S. scene and maybe eventually internationally; however, nothing they have done is equal to Ajee Wilson's 2:00.59 relay leg.
It maybe a relay leg but come on and give the young lady her due, no American female in high school has come close to matching that in middle or long distance in VERY, VERY ALONG TIME! Ajee Wilson's relay leg is in a class of its own in comparison to recent high school performances.

Woah there. Chelsey Sveinsson ran a 4:40 mile / 10:04 2-mile double as a sophomore at New Balance Nationals. This year I don't think she improved at all (injury), except in cross country where she finished 2nd overall. The same could happen to Ajee Wilson... it's always hard to improve once you are as fast as she is now...
She is better than Hasay and Chelsey obviously at 800 and under, but she would probably lose to both girls at 1500 and up. Remember, Chelsey doubled and won both events by 10+ seconds (as a soph)... Ajee Wilson had someone to run after in that Sprint Medley.
I agree however, that her time ridiculously > any other distance time ran in a long while. But we can't necessarily expect her to continue to drop times (though I hope she does). I think it is about time we see someone rewrite the record books like the boys high school mile has been.
Will Ajee Wilson be the "Jim Ryun" on the girl's side?
