Trust me. Unlike Berlin, Haile's actually going to have to beat some decent guys in NYC. That is not going to change.
As for Noone, I had no idea that Peter Noone, the leader of Herman's Hermits, was doing the NYC Marathon.

Is there really any pollen in NYC during mid-March either? Stuff doesn't bloom around here until mid-April....
Yes. Not a lot but I could feel it in my lungs too. Right now it's much worse tho. It was mild in March but noticable.
If you could only cheer for one person on race day, who would you pick: Meb or Haile?

Yep, there should be zero influence of pollen on running in November. Right now, there is.
Nope. Ragweed season, perhaps the debilitating allergen, is Mid August all the way through the end of November.
adidas marketing want him and the brand exposed to a BIGGER market place
this is about business
he will still do Dubai for a fast time

Ok, sorry. I just don't look at that because it doesn't affect me (yet). ;)
I just read Mary Wittenburg's qoute on iaaf's website.I have to say i too is appaled by the ass licking that the NYC race directors have resorted to.It is pathetic.People wonder why athletics is loosing popularity and it is bacause of mediocrity like this.
you should have stayed in school...

NYC is first week in November.
Dubai is mid-late January.
At most what, 11-12 weeks between the two?
When Haile ran Berlin he had an extra 4-5 week cushion because Berlin is the last weekend in September.
Assuming you are correct that Haile is going back to Dubai, wouldn't NYC being so close and tough on the legs therefore hamper his Dubai training/time significantly?
Anyone want to guess what the Vegas odds will be for Haile actually running this race. Committing to it is great, but I don't see him actually being on the line come race day. He's got excuses galore these days.
Geb is spreading his brand by running NY. Mary Wittenberg offered him a lot of appearance money. Geb would not be spreading his brand by running the same marathons he usually does. He would have to set a world record again to get the same publicity. And NY is the center of publicity in this country. He's basically a businessman at this phase of his career. He has gold medals, he has world records, now he's trying to set up the rest of his life.
