not too bad on the sprints/jumps/throws either. i would go out on a limb to say the pac-10 is the best xc/t&f conference in the nation by a pretty long shot.

Only in AJ World does a triple become a quadruple. Did he win any of his races? His 1500 and 5000 in losing efforts was solid but his steeplechase sucked against a sucky field.
It's not even a noteworthy triple.

Tell us the highest level you ever Tripled at then, and your results.
Bet you won't.

I've never tripled. Why is that relevant to AJ's triple not being noteworthy?
3:41/13:46 is a nice double at a conference level meet, but many in the PAC 10 have had better doubles than that. Theres nothing wrong with keeping perspective here, even for you AJ Nation adolescents.
Quit using fallacious arguments.
His best triple is irrelevant, his opinion on whether or not it is a noteworthy triple is the question here.
I think that it is a noteworthy but until AJ proves he can be a performer on the national level or win races he isn't going to get the respect.

Then shut your mouth you freaking pussy.
Tripling, with a Steeple in the middle, 11,000m of racing in two days, at the Pac Ten level, and scoring 19 points, is noteworthy.
You're just showing your character as a douche.

This is seriously impressive. By far his best weekend to date. 5000m PR after a 3:46, 8:52, 3:41? Top notch. I guess the real question is which double does he do at NCAAs now? He can obviously handle the high workload.
Yeah, I know and people want to talk trash about his effort being "not notworthy," tons of guys have never gone under 14:00 in the 5k, let alone after running 1500 prelims and finals, with a Steeple in between...

You call 8:52 noteworthy? Big whup.
He had a nice double on Sunday. Don't get carried away, fanboy.

I don't think there's any doubt about YOUR character. Typical Duck fan.
Such haters...when people are so quick to be critical and dash others performances it is usually due to a lack of self confidence or insecurity.
Nobody said Acosta was the greatest, or was going to do well at NCAA but a performance that involves 4 races with times that are in the top 20 in the country for the 1500m and 5k and a steeple that while not outstanding is still the 36th best time in the country. Let's embrace a guy trying to help his team out by running a solid triple.
Honestly Acosta is more or less irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. He can pick up points for the team but he isn't going to win anything big unless he is on a relay team. The dude is great, but his name doesn't come to mind anymore during discussions about possible individual national champions. He is useful tool for Oregon's program as a whole but not particularly special when compared against true national class ball busters
I wouldn't call the 3rd fastest 1500m time in the nation, irrelevant. I agree though that he's not in the mix for an ncaa championship; but if that was the requirement for relevancy we'd be talking about the same 5 people in every thread.

This goes right up there with those who bag on Rupp because he isn't the best in the world.
Looks like he knows his place!

A lot of guys try to help their teams out. They don't get threads started on them. This steeple was kind of like putting someone into a racewalk. Not much comp there either. There isn't "hate" on his performance. There's hate on the losers who keep trying to force him down our throats. Your love/obsession for him is too much. If he couldn't win an event in his conference, what threat does he really pose on the national level? Freshman in College have faired better at the National level.
My point wasn't to debate the performance but rather of all the things people could be doing with their time why do they get enjoyment from knocking someone else down. Especially if you're sick of hearing about him...
"Oh man I can't believe I clicked on the thread titled AJ Acosta - 13:46.87 - 3rd place in 5,000 !!! 19 Points at Pac Tens!!! WHAT A STUD!!! and it turned out to be about AJ Acosta. I'm so sick of having that guy pushed down my throat. I sure wish there was someway I could know the thread was about him so I wouldn't have to waste anymore time on him"
How many other national caliber (or whatever you consider Acosta to be) runners tripled at conference and set a PR in their 4th race of the weekend?
its so annoying to read some of you people that always talk crap on guys like rupp and aj. these guys do things that almost all of you (uncluding myself) will never be able to do in your entire lifetime. How can you say its not a noteworthy triple? He scored 19 points at the PAC-10 championships.. that's very noteworthy by any standards.
Not as good as I once was wrote:

This thread is a classic example of the insecurity rampant on this site. One mans success leads to another mans temper tantrum. It's like AJ doing this triple and doing it very successfully is taking away your toddler toy.
The pac-10 is loaded with quality national class runners and AJ is running with the top in 3 different events and somehow you wanna dis the guy.
The thread was about his conference performance and somehow you gotta compare him to a higher level to try to take that away. Just name one runner at the conference meet who you think could have honestly pulled off what he did and with as much success. And you have NCAA contenders, hell favorites to choose from.
Grow up little friend, grow up and appreciate that someone did something that neither you, I or the rest of us could have pulled off. When you can truly appreciate it, your life will get better.
He got the points didnt he? PAC-10 isn't willy nilly either. He came and he proved himself. Sorry he didnt run sub-8, sub-3:30, and sub 13. Can't please everyone can he?
