And somebody speaks about doping again....
I want to remember some fact :
a) Eliud Kipchoge has a PB of 12'46"53, and other best times of 12'50"22 and 12'50"38 ; therefore, nothing special if was able running in 12'51" at the beginning of the season, when he normally ALWAYS is able running fast (in Doha, always he ran very fast 3000m in the past).
I saw him in training in Chepkoilel (the track he usually uses, between Eldoret and Iten), together Chepkok, and they were the two athletes in better shape during the last month.
b) I am the coasch of Imane Merga : he is not in top shape at the moment, and was not able to follow the pace. I look for him in a better shape from the beginning of July, but the choices of Kipchoge and Chepkok were different. They asked a fast pacing, because they knew their current shape, so there was no surprise for the final time.
c) The race in Doha was the fastest during last 3 years, because was prepared for running fast, not only for winning. During the last 3 years (they started in Zurich this new system), the most part of top meetings of Golden League decided not to use pacemakers anymore, in order to make their competitions more interesting under the agonistic point of view. This is the reason because from 2008 there were no more top times in long distances. And really, or some athlete is able to attack a WR (and at the moment NOBODY can do it in long distances, may be Rudisha and Kaki in 800. In 1500m nobody can run under 3'29", in 5000 Bekele is no more the same and the other athletes are far from his potential, 10000m practically are cancelled, in steeple nobody is near the value of the best Shaheen), or to use rabbits is something useless. Look what happened in Doha for steeple : the rabbit was very good, nobody followed, and at the end Lagat was n. 3 finishing the race in front of Mateelong !).
The problem is that the most part of people at the moment interested in athletics don't have any HISTORICAL MEMORY. Nobody knows what happened 10 or 20 years ago, and some performance that was only NORMAL 20 years ago now is considered fruit of doping. In 2007, nobody ran under 3'30" in 1500m, and in 2008 nobody under 3'31". THIS MEANS THAT IN 2008 NOBODY WAS ABLE TO RUN A PERFORMANCE INSIDE THE TOP 40 ALL TIME IN THE WORLD !
Also the current situation of US long runners can clearly show the reality. WHEN THE ATHLETES STARTED TO TRAIN AGAIN WITH MORE VOLUME SUPPORTING THE INTENSITY, AND QUITTED TO FEAR THE VALUE OF TIMES, we had many important performances (under 13' in 5000m and under 27' in 10000), that only 2 years before nobody supposed possible for not African runners.
I have proves of how quickly top athletes can increase their shape and improve their performances (in my career I coached 7 athletes under 26'53", and some of them didn't have continuity) : I know that they were able to cut one minute in one month of training, and they used to drink milk, to eat ugali and vegetables, NEVER ASKING FOR SOME VITAMIN OR SOME SUPPLEMENT (so, not only they didn't use because I didn't give because I'm AGAINST every supplement, also innocent, for supporting training, but in their mind NEVER there was the idea to look for) : so, WHY MUST I HAVE SOME SUSPICION ABOUT THE BEST AFRICAN RUNNERS WITH OTHER COACHES ?
The reality is as follows :
a) The most part of NORMAL athletes, having a NORMAL talent only, suppose to have the attitudes for becoming TOP athletes, because they compare their talent with the talent of people around them
b) They also suppose to follow the BEST possible program, with the BEST possible coach, and to use the BEST possible behavior about athletics : full concentrationmì, continuity, hard work, sacrifices, etc....
c) At the end, their results are not so good, so, for justifying themselves, THE RESULTS OF THE OTHER RUNNER ARE BETTER BECAUSE OF DOPING.
In this bad education, an important role comes from movies, press and generally from every type of wrong information. When you see a movie where the theme is about an athlete that wants to run Olympics ; before US trials he is very sick, and doesn't train for long time ; approaching Trials he has a car accident and some family problem : during Trials he has to stop for some reason ; and at the end is able to qualify, THIS MOVIE IS GOOD FOR CRYING, CAN BE VERY EMOTIONAL, but is totally far from the reality.
The most part of posters in Letsrun don't know anything about WHAT THERE IS BEHIND TOP' PERFORMANCES : they don't know the type and the level of training, don't know the real life of every top athlete, don't know anything about the top Athletics World, but want to speak thinking to know everything...
This is the ridiculous side of this Website, that, being free, has to accept a lot of stupidities from people thinking to be intelligent.
I like to read all what I'm able to find about the life of wild animals, but I'm not an expert : so, if I go in a specific website, I read, if I don't know I ask, but I don't go to teach to the scientists what they have to do, and I don't try to explain something I don't know...
Probably, many people today think that PRESUMPTION is one of the most appreciated virtues in the modern World...
