Hey, all you clones better watch me.
Hey, all you clones better watch me.
Rome used to be decent when he built the prototype, but his schtick has gotten stale and tired. Frankly, there is no good candidate because marathoners are generally emaciated and unattractive, if not intelligent, but soft-spoken, unpersonalities. They tend not to be the gangstas, felons, and drama queens that are the modern day "gladiators." Maybe Kara, because she's not a typical shy ectomorph, is attractive, has some notable accomplishments, and can probably match wits. And she's likely our best hope for 2012.

Ryan Hall should never be interviewed ever, it is too painful to listen to.
I feel the same way about secular humanists.
Gabe Jennings is the only one who could keep the masses entertained. Who knows what he will say next.

Do you feel smart?
Put down the speed googles. Also, Bruce Pearl, Coach K, Steve Smith, Steve Elkington, Anthony Kim, and many other great interview subjects from Rome's show are not "gangstas, felons, and drama queens."

And how the f*** is being a secular humanist a bad thing?
No one is worth interviewing on Jim Rome's show. No one should go on Jim Rome's show. How is it possible that Jim Rome even has a show?
Paula Radcliffe or Ryan Hall would be good guests.
Marathoning is more popular than ever in the US. Maybe not people following the pros, but marathon participation. If we could get some guys to have fun and talk some junk like Rodgers, Salazar and Shorter used to do, maybe the sport could become more popular and would make mainstream sports media pay a little more attention (just a little). I found it pretty funny that Vega called out Brent Vaughn for not takinga turn leading with he and Smyth at the half champs. The more of that, the better.
USATF could probably promote its top guns a little better and beat down the doors until they get a few yeses from some national sports shows, whether it be radio or tv. You would think that Meb and Ryan Hall would be a bigger deal at US Marathons due to what they get paid to show up and how fascinated true running fans are with it. Get these guys an interview coach and let them pump it up.
There just has to be some build up for people to take note and not just a clumsy Letterman appearance if one of them does win. Maybe that's too much to ask and the only thing people want to see is Usain Bolt, but I don't think so. All about marketing. At least we have Letsrun!
Half mary is the new mary.

He should interview me. Cause I'm so God Damn good.
Yeah, I shoot women and children, sometimes. You just don't lead 'em so much.
nice
The title of this thread begs the question: Who is Jim Rome?
Magdalena Lewy Boulet is personable and articulate and has a good personal saga to tell. She'd be a good guest ... for someone other than Rome, who's worse than unbearable.
Rome wouldn't know what to do with a marathoner because he knows as much about marathoners as I know about women, nothing.
6 years he said something about marathoners It went along the lines of this:
Those kenyans, and other africans that run marathons aren't human. They run 26 miles at 5 minute pace... Reh-Mark-Uh-bel. Thats like a sprint for me and you clowns who listen to this show. Its just ruh-dic-you-lous. These kenyans run all out for 18 miles then they decide they want to kick it in for the last 8. Can you imagine if you sprinted 18 miles then said well I haven't had enough I think I'll sprint another 8 more. Thats what these Kenyans do.
Ryan Hall would suck - he would start with the praise Jesus stuff and everyone would turn off, me included.
I remember FloCrap or similar interviewing Sarah during Ryan's half marathon AR. It was horrible - I turned the sound off and watched the occasional footage of Ryan.
Apparently Jesus isn't happy with the Halls lately, because Jesus hasn't given either of them a victory in quite a while.
So, no, no US marathoners would be worth interviewing on Rome's show or any other show for that matter, except for maybe the 700Club.
Umm yeah, because Jesus liking you translates to worldly success. These comments about Hall not doing "well" (like you can run that fast) and how he talks too much about Jesus or how Jesus must not love him are getting old and ridiculous. Ryan is proud of his faith and that is fine. We have enough athletes these days who are self centered and praise themselves as if the world revolves around them. Even if your faith (atheist, buddhist, agnostic) differs from his, he still stands as an otherwise excellent role model for others. Sure its your right to disagree, but making fun of him is immature.
And Ryan, if you ever come across this silly thread, there are many unspoken voices that are thankful for your hard work, service to others, and the fact that you thank God for the ability of to do that.
Okay let the bashing of this post begin...
I met Jim Rome once, I was on mushrooms, it was awesome, his fake tan was SOO bright
Marathoners are the people that don't have the talent to play soccer. And you know what I think about soccer, clones.
