No, honestly i do run in compression shorts from time to time, but i wear underwear under those as well. Do you go commando in compression shorts?
First off I agree completely about the running shorts, sadly I have gone to working out in compression shorts due to the terrible lining in most shorts these days. Socks, gloves, and hats are definitely a great idea but there one would have to find the fine line between expensive, innovative, cheap, and appealing. Cotton gloves don't cut it, and expensive running socks suck because they cost as much as a case of regular socks.
Anyone have any ideas about stretching materials? Like things they don't like about foam rollers or sticks? Stretching devices etc?
Another idea I am playing with is this.....Would you guys use, if in some way I created an easy to use, small pace calculator that you could put in your spike bag....For all races or workouts like if you have 3x1000 at like 2:42 pace....you can look it up instead of painstakingly doing math in your head....Just an idea.
shoes with rockets on the back
I wear "tight" shorts that are made for running....underwear is not needed. I'm not talking that Under Armour crap.
A treadmill that senses how fast you are running and adjusts. Why should we adjust to some preset pace much better to have a treadmill that adjusts to you. That way you could get on and start running and go whatever pace you felt like, then slow and stop and get off without any buttons.
Thank you for the thoughts.

--Gel flask that clip onto your shorts. Already done, Amphipod and Ultimate Direction
I don't want to wear a belt or a bottle holster. I want to simply clip the actual gel flask to my shorts, like the clip-on runner's pepper spray.
-- Small, light runner's camera (clips on shorts) or some some sort of video camera you could wear on your head to record what you see. Don't know how many times I've been out running and wished I had a camera. Putting it in your pocket is a bit cumersome. Or how about a small runner-friendly, affordable camera/phone? there are some decent ones out there, but a nice high quality one would be nice
I realize I could go buy a cheap $60 camera at Walmart, but I have yet to see a runner-friendly camera/phone I could clip onto my shorts. Something light and small would be great, or as mentioned, a "webcam" you could wear on your head (like you do with a headlamp).
--GPS chip tracker (if you go missing)already done
Do you have a link to this item?
--Spring-loaded dispenser for glucose tablets (also clips on your shorts). I don't believe a quarter dispenser is big enough (?). do people use glucose tabs during runs?
Yes, I experimented for a few years with glucose tablets. The marathon where I qualified for the 2008 Olympic Trials, I took glucose tablets wrapped in Seran wrap. A spring-loaded dispenser would have been much handier.
--Lighter shoes, no heal lift, minimal midsole (or none at all), and actually fit the shape of feet in the toebox (wide, not curved or tapered). might fit your feet, not mine
Really? Your toes are pointed and your feet are curved??
--A Coca cola/Gatorade Endurance Formula sports beverage (powder) made with REAL sugar cane, caffeine, and containing minerals (calcium and magnesium). Natural ingredients, and nothing weird. good luck getting the rights to use either of those brand names, There are some energy chews/gels out there that have most of what you're talking about, never seen a drink mix though.
I'm not suggesting using their brand names. Basically I'm saying a caffeinated beverage made with real sugar cane (NOT high fructose corn syrup) and also containing minerals (sodium, potassium, magnesium, calcium). No weird "energy drink" crap or engineered ingredients. I've been mixing Red Bull with Gatorade Endurance Formula, but it would be nice to have just one solution, in powder form (cause it's cheaper).
--I hate it when my shoes and socks get wet in the winter from running in slushy snow/mud/icy water. I collect and cover my socks with fruit bags. If there's a better solution, I'd appreciate it.there are many shoes out there lines with Goretex, and some using eVent too
That's cool, but I'd like to "winterize" any pair of shoes or socks (without having to wear some clunky Gore-tex trail shoes).

Sorry to break it to you, but it's already been done.
http://www.coachbobwilliams.com/calculator.phpI've had one for nearly 20 years now so it's not exactly a breakthrough idea. Indispensable though and lasts forever.
a pace calculator that shocks you when you fall off pace, by the 3rd shock the shock is so great it kills you.. it would def keep you on your toes or off depending on the way you view it.
lighter weight waterproof jacket and pants. Goretex is just too sweaty
I was at a running store one time as a worker was opening a box of shorts. He accidentally cut into one of the pairs with the box-knife. As I was buying one pair of shorts, he tossed in the pair he cut for free. They had a great liner. Turned out to be women's shorts. They were adidas shorts, grey with blue stripes, not femmy looking. Wore those shorts a long time, best liner yet. I don't really have a complaint with guys liners though, so I haven't made a habit of buying women's shorts for the liner. But check and see, maybe this would be an option for you.
Some idea I had, Oh well such is life. Thanks for the news though. I still have some more ideas, hopefully one is a success.
how about something to cover your nipples that wont fall off
how about you develop a locker that you can put all your running stuff in but cant get broken in to so that your sweet running stuff cant get stolen

Exactly. Finding that fine line is the crux of the problem. Socks are a really good example. You probably would like the thin polyester socks if they were cheaper, wouldn't you? You make due because of the cost. There is no reason running socks need to be $15/pr. Like wise with shirts and gloves. There doesn't seem to be much of a midrange between the running specific and the stuff you can get at Walmart for a few bucks. Most times I wouldn't want the expensive stuff even if it were cheaper than it is.
That is a really good point about shorts. I think that the liner problems are a general consensus. Solve that problem and add it to your product line.
You could probably even just shop around for the stuff you think if the best for you and sell that. Maybe make you own line later.

I have a pair of Izumi (sp?) shorts that have a tight liner in them and they feel great. The liner feels just like my cold weather running underwear, though not as thick but that snug. There is no real elastic waist band as the compression of the liner holds them up with the help of a string. Pricey for a pair of shorts but they feel real nice.
A neoprene thong for ice baths. Seriously. And a watch that can take splits from multiple runners in the same race.

Or you could remember whose split is whose... or even write them down. I AM A GENIUS!
Also, the man thong has been perfected already. Trust me.
