Yep, Rupp would have def run 13:05 and won were it not for that pesky cold.

Crazy to think that lagat has 10 years on Rupp. The 5K AR will go down this summer and i wouldn't even be suprised if lagat isn't in the top 5 with Ritz, Rupp, Teg, Webb and Kennedy being ahead of him. Lagat can still kick but he doesn't have the tank to get under his old pb.
Gosh, that last post there was comprised entirely of nonsense.

Not to mention the thyroid issues!

How exactly did you get that out of this last race? You do ralize that Lagat is focusing on the 5K, and even though what you say might happen, based on this race it certainly seems less likely to happen rather then more likely.
Yeah but it will happen though. Lagat just needs to get in the right race come this summer going out in 12:45 pace.
Before Lagat became a citizen, there were a lot of years when nobody in America could run 13:14 outdoors.
USA distance is officially at an all-time high. 13:11 and 13:14 in the same race, indoors, in early February is just insanely unbelievable.
We could realistically have 6 guys under 13 mins this summer!!

OK, help me out here. Honest question - who are the six?
But first, let me say that there is a significant difference between saying, "there are six Americans who have a realistic shot to go under 13 this summer" and "realistically there may be six Americans under 13 this summer". The latter requires everything to go right for six different people which is not realistic.
But, nitpicking aside, who are you thinking?
Lagat
Teg
Ritz
Solinsky
Rupp
????
I admit that I'm probably forgetting somebody obvious.

Webb-if he gets his shit in gear.
Webb if he runs a big one.
dont forget Jager!
Only on this board would a guy run 4 seconds faster than his previous AR and still get crap for it. I'm no Rupp fanboy, but he had a good meet last week, a strong performance today where he pushed the pace, and still gets slagged off on here.
Whether folks like Rupp or everything that goes with him is irrelevant.
What he just did as a one year out of college guys against all others is amazing.
It is absurd that anyone would think differently.
He just ran 3:56 yards, 7:51 same day double and now this.
Get a perspective.
If it was anyone else other than him, folsk would be going "oh my god" stuff.
