Why not? Assuming you actually went and competed there. In addition, you must have been given or bought the singlet. If you stole it, give it back. Don't wear it.

Dont do it. When I see people do it it appears as though they are 1. stuck in the past or 2. attempting to show off/brag. Just wear normal running clothes and run fast. Leave the past in the past. I have retired all of my college running gear to a special box in the closet.
It's cool for DIII. Perhaps less so for DI. DII and Ivys in the middle.
Weren't you supposed to turn that back into the equipment room?

a. Who cares what the brands are? Is that relevant?
b. You graduated roughly 2-3 years ago? I guess D2 would be obvious if you have to estimate.
I took that to mean that he graduated between 2 and 3 years ago, likely in Spring '07.

Pretty sure that would violate a law of physics.
If you wear it, be prepared for people to cheer for whatever your singlet says as you run by. You'll hear lot's of "Go Abilene" or whatever it says.
Who gives a hot shit? It's your singlet. Wear it if you want to. There might be a couple no-names at the race who think it's stupid, but who the hell cares what they think? 90% of the other competitors couldn't care less what you're wearing.
Individuals tend to believe that everyone is paying attention to what you're wearing, how your hair looks, etc. when you go out in public. The reality is that most people don't even notice, and the ones that do don't matter anyways. Just wear your damn singlet. Your nike singlet.

i agree with ray, but really no one should care.
shoot me an email ray if you will. thanks.
As long as it's the school you went to and raced at, it's totally fine. even if it's an alumni race or something like that, as long as it's an older version jersey, it's cool.
No Colorado Buffaloes t-shirts or jerseys unless you went there. One guy would wear his bro's villanova shorts at practice and it pissed off our team guys so much that they stole the shorts from his locker (we were a competitor).

It is absolutely unethical. That singlet is a symbol of the school and the current team. If you are not currently on the school roster do not wear it. It is not just a singlet....it is a UNIFORM.
You have moved on....you are now an UNATTACHED roadracer....get a Nike or Brooks singlet.
Stop being a douche.
Drive me nuts that Jordan Hasay would wear a USA uniform in high school & open (non-international) meets.
Dilutes being a representative of the US.
Good day, sir.
unethical? it is a piece of cloth with ink on it. it does not matter at all!
Thanks for the update on Salazar.
I refuse to use the term "singlet." T&F is marginalized enough even without using such a namby-pamby, effete, nontransferrable term for the gear.
"Jersey" is much more athletic and mainstream. You want respect for the sport? Act like it's a sport and not a dance recital.

Thank you. Jesus people. He's just wearing his old school's singlet and ANYONE who has a problem with it is beyond petty.
However, I do think it's important that you run a decent time if you're gonna represent your school like that. If I were not in shape to run at least 15-something I would think twice about wearing the singlet. You know, because people might not think much of it at the start line, but if you finish in 18:xx it'll make your school look bad....unless you're 40 years old.
Great reply Joseph. You came through for us once again.

Kinda like the American flag.....yes?????
Shit, i wear mine all the time. i run in it when it is hot outside. f*** it, I dont care.
i went to a better running school than 99% of you freaks.
Frank at the HUB wrote:
No, it is not. You're not racing for, or representing, the school. Therefore, you don't wear the singlet.

How stupid is that?
Of course he can wear his old singlet from college. I have seen it several times.
Who the hell cares?
I wish colleges made their running uniforms more accessible to anyone and everyone that wanted to wear them. Kinda like the big money sports do. I didn't run in college but it would be cool to wear my favorite college teams singlet just to show support. I would pay decent money for a Brooks Hanson singlet. No different than people walking around wearing NBA, NFL or college ball jerseys.
We want our sport to grow and then we do our best to keep it small and hidden.

Yes. Exactly like the American flag, actually.
Besides, this guy isn't talking about setting his singlet on fire and stomping on it as a form of hate and protest against his former school. He's talking about wearing the damn thing during a race because he likes it. That's what singlets are for. You old people are irrational as hell sometimes.
