Txrungirl.... old lady haha! you kill me, wait till you really hit your 30s and 40s chica..... So I can attest to the idea of taking risks. Ever since I signed up for the 10km I feel high anxiety about it, but on the other hand I have done plenty enough miles to run a consistent tpye of pace as long as the hip area is thoroughly warmed up... Injury can do weird things to the mind and body, I am having to work on my mind these days.
NLS I do think everyone may have their own "baseline" for SF suffice to say 10 and below is no stores and far too low.
My perspective is that when I was first hurt 4 yrs ago I had no clue it would last that long. Let's face it most people even with a stress fracture are not out of hard training and racing for that long. Soooo having said that, try to be patient with yourselves and your bodies injured gals, because every cloud does have a silver lining. I have become much wiser about hip flexor issues and working those on runners for example than ever before I got hurt ( in my job as a massage therapist)....
We all apprecaite our running so much more when there has been a haitus for how ever long for what ever reason.
All of you will come out of the slump stronger better and wiser, trust me I have been on the path. Now I try to count my blessings and listen a little more intently when my body is yelling at me to rest....
Keep on keeping on chicas :o)
