Teg is certainly not too heavy for a 5,000m race, but there's no way that much bulk could make it through a 10k.
agreed. absolutely no way.

I really don't think he could he even finish a 10K with all of that weight.

it seems that many slow runner dorks in particular don't realize that it's quite possible to be light and not look exactly like an 11 year old girl.

FAT
The polite word is "husky" and many badass runners from the 70's and 80's had a similar build to Solinsky. Teg and esp. Ritz are very lean in comparison, something you rarely saw in U.S. born runners back then.
What is Ritz' height and weight?

This picture is a little dated, as Teg last ran indoors about 21 months ago. Solinsky has lost 10+ pounds since then. His wife is not very hefty either (ex-pole vaulter).
Solinsky is not married yet.
Solinsky what 159?

There is a difference between lean and skinny. Genetics will predispose Kenyans to be "skinny" while most caucasians will be "lean".
I take it you're not from the US.
Not married? I thought Solinsky was married to Amy Dahlin, also a former badger track and field athlete? I'm pretty sure he even mentioned her in his interviews last night.

Gross weight doesnt mean too much. A pound of muscle weighs just as much as a pound of fat. I'd like to know what the percentage body fat of each runner is and then we can talk.
You're right that a pound of muscle weighs the same as fat...but your point about body fat percentage is off base. You can be lean and still be carrying pointless muscle.
If Solinsky has really lost 10 lbs then it was a needless 10.
Corrections: Solinsky got married last fall - Teg has not announced it yet, but is retiring.
