It turns out that the layoffs only save the company $2200/day.
So like, dude, how much is that in yuan ?

I am thinking that if no runner ever bought another pair of Nike running shoes, the company would get along just fine. When I worked retail, I sold far more nike running style shoes to non-runners than to runners.
they let go of 1750 back office employees, outsourced most of the work to both american and foreign contractors, and burdened the surviving employees with the difference
I hope all those children in China can find another job soon.

NXN is not XC ! It's a Nike trade show with a demonstration XC races as an advertisement. Just look at all of the running websites Nike pays to fly in to cover their trade show.
You're right. Those kids aren't actually running for all those 15-20 minutes. Unless you're there, you don't even realize that every 3 minutes there is an advertising break where Nike stops the race and promotes their company. It's really more like a 5 x 1km interval workout for the kids. That's the real reason why Fayetteville-Manlius is so good, they just don't stop between the kilometers. Actually, the races are just staged. Break into Nike HQ and you can find out the night before who actually "wins" the race. I'll give you a hint, though: the New York girls team will always win, because they feel bad that the New Yorkers have to live in... well, New York. Which is just too close to New Jersey for their comfort. And California will rarely win because, well, they live in California. What else do they need in life? Warm weather, beautiful beaches and women? Entertainment capital of the world? The Governator?
Everyone with a head on their shoulders realize Footlocker is the only company that cares about High School Cross Country, or Track and Field for that matter.
Who cares?
They do most of their production overseas anyway.
The Eugene location is jus a coverup for massive production underground of a gigantic missle aimed at Canada!!!

Does that include Galen or does he still have a job?
galen rupp will still have his job, as he is hardworking and actually contributes to NIKE, by running well.
whereas the 1750 who were let go do not work as hard as rupp and are not really needed.
but dont be jealous of rupp, anyone on the planet can have the same job and be in the same position as rupp, just train hard and get your times to 13:07 for 5k and 27:10 for 10k and you too will have a secure job at NIKE or whatever shoe company you choose.
Amazing folks here on LR. Nike lays off up to 450 workers worldwide, which is less than 4% of their workforce, and LF dufus says it is 1,750 employees. I say, good for Nike, keep it lean and mean and your profits will go back up, and you will grow the future. And to the LR fools, go back to school and take math.
Galen works under multi-year contract, he is now an employee of Nike, but rather a contract employee. Yes, he still has a job and will for the length of his contract.
Perhaps you should go back to school and learn how to read when this thread started.
I read that after you analyze Nike organization, the labor and employees are 91.7% children and prison labor.

Yeah, because cross country is meant to be run in ideal conditions: No rain, snow, mud, ice, wind, or hills.
