No disagreement with any of these pieces. Little I had not read decades ago. The message of these articles is generally that we should all be running barefoot. Pity that by the admission of I think two of them there's little comparitive study of barefoot/shod injury rates. Which was the subject of my post. I'm an old timer who remembers those old gutties, and yes I've experimented with barefoot etc. I know lots of runners who were saved by (note)a little cushioning. I know none who were saved by going from hi-tec to barefoot - and several tried.
I suspect the problem may be that our feet are so used to 'comfort' footware that even though barefoot was proven there'd be more harm done by switching than good at least in the short term.
Real runners are cheap - if it were that easy to save $ by going w/o shoes we would. As for me, cushioning in small to moderate amounts is the way to go. Leave barefoot to the hippies ha!
