How do you tell the difference between a poorly coached race and a poorly run race?
So he might have them start out too conservatively. (Hit the mile in X:XX) But how can he "want to make up the gap too quickly". It's a 10K cross country. He can't call a team meeting in the middle of the race.
A poor race plan by the coach has to be pretty far down the list of reasons for a team to perform below expectations.
