maybe rojo should hold off on calling the DII champs Baby Nationals until he's sure that his Cornell team could actually win or place in the top 5 at Baby Nationals.

In that sense, I think there are a number of DI schools that rightfully should be in DII. Or DIII in some cases.

but maybe the football programs are top par.

Shouldn't that hold true for the IVY league too then? None of there football teams are tops.
The Ivy League's better than the Patriot League.
Not even. More like D3.

That's like comparing dwarves and midgets. Who gives a shit, they both suck?
And Cornell still sucks!

But they know how to spell the third person plural possessive.
Whoa, hold on there. The Big East is barely better than the Ivy League? Not knocking the Ivies, but the Big East has Providence, Notre Dame, Louisville, Villanova, and Georgetown. Princeton and Columbia are getting it done, but the competition in the Big East is much stronger.
There is a %0 chance that Cornell could win the "Baby Nationals". That goes for ANY year. They simply aren't good enough. They never have been.

I went to Harvard, and I could have gone to any D2 school I wanted!
In reply to OP: The Ivy League is not in a Div I class. Was it Rojo or Wejo who coined the term Baby Nationals? That is where the Ivy League belongs in all sports. That should not be taken as an insult, it is a fact. Who cares really?
Out of curiousity, has Rojo achieved everything he has wanted to so far in coaching? He never posts anymore about it. He certainly has our backing here at letsrun - or at least a majority of us.

I'll believe that as soon as you post links to all eight acceptance letters.
I'm curious, are there any non DI teams or leagues that you think should be DI? Or do you just think that there should be fewer schools competing in DI?
I didnt apply. I wanted to compete at a higher level. But SAT's and grades were certainly good enough combined with athletics to get in. I guess you'll have to take my word on it, or dont i dont care.
I think some of you actually think schools have a huge choice in the matter. In the end it's all about money spent on athletics...
D1: Must sponsor at least 7 men sports and 7 women sports (or 6 men/8 women). Must play a minimum number of contests against D1 opponents.
D2: Must sponsor at least 5 men sports and 5 women sports (or 4 men/6 women).
D3: Does not give athletic scholarships, although other aid is available.

I told rojo I thought it was really lame that they continue to belittle other meets by calling them baby nationals. That being said, the heps is a really tough conference. I don't think anyone would argue that its tougher than any of the majors but it hold it own against anyone else. Is there really a d2 conference meet that is as tough as the heps? I'd be shocked if there is.
Obv, there are great runners in d2. I have a ton of respect for adams state and western. I don't think the guys that have a clue are the ones that are talking trash in this thread...
Most of the Big Worst schools were DII back in the 70/80's. Now that title IX has decimated men's cross country and track there is no depth in DII so there is no comparison.

Whatever. I'm actually not that interested.
I was more interested in knowing whether you think there are DII schools that should move up or whether you just think that there should be fewer DI schools.
If so, why? The Ivy League competes very well with a lot of other DI schools. Should DI just be restricted to a handful of leagues? Would that improve competition for anyone?
In truth, I was just insulting Rojo.
