they need to made public what he is making from Boston. It would help the sport a great deal. They do it in other sports why not in running? it would help draw attention and perhaps motivate young talent who decide to play another sport.

...and then when he flops continue to flog him with "he's making $xxxxxx to run that??????"
Works like a charm in team sports.
i would think boston would try to get the best runners they can as the hardcore fans would be able to know if its a watered down field orchestrated for any 1 person to win, i guarantee they will try to get robert cheruiyot to try and defend his title, i dont thin hall should be accused of ducking people as he ran in loaded london fields the last 2 years. boston will again be competing with london, amsterdam, paris, hamburg and others for the worlds best runners.
so far the runners signed with top marathons.
rotterdam has signed patrick debut to debut.
london has signed 14:23 5k runner liliya shobukhova to debut.
boston has signed ryan hall.
boston has by far the guy that will get the most media attention with hall.
boston has a slight disadvantage as the weather is unpredictable in april and it is not an extremely fast course unless the wind is at the runners backs.
boston does have the tradition though and with the media hall will generate many athletes will go there to make a name for themselves.
Doug,
Read Toni's thread. I would expect a good field for Boston, not a London type field (one that they can't afford and could possibly ruin one of the best chances they have for an American victory in years).
Expect the next announcement from Boston to be that Kara Goucher will be running as well.

Have Ritz or Sell announced their next marathon?
It\'s be great to see a Ritz vs Hall where weather isn\'t as much a factor.
I think Ritz is concentrating on shorter distance PR\'s next year.
Dathan will be running London. 100% guarantee. I don't know what Sell has planned.
Ritz wants a fast time so it looks like London for him. I hope Sell decides to do Boston.
correct a lot of times in team sports players don't play up to potential after signing these big contracts. Most of the time they deserve to get ripped on from the fans. The same thing can happen in running.

Yeah, weather is never a factor at Boston.
Ritz will go to london... ritz and hall have the most appearance fee power of any American's right now, so why would they compete for that... and my guess is hall is demanding a higher price than ritz and ritz feels he deserves at least the equal amount, if not more after the OM. They keep these numbers internal, but it is often more than the prize money for big names... some times as much as 3 or 4 times as much.... why do you think Geb skipped the OM for Berlin, big money.
Lets go Hall! winning the race over the last few miles by pounding everyone into the ground!
I predict that Hall will finish 3rd. The winner will be a Kenyan that none of us have ever heard of.

Or perhaps to duck Wanjiru/Lel/etc. while still dropping his world record and making a claim to be the best in the world?

We already saw that, where were you?
I sent a quick email to a local (boston) news station trying to get them to do a quick 30 second spot on this news. Most likely this will go by unmentioned but this is a big deal for the Boston Marathon. The week or two before and the couple days following the marathon the city talk is all about the marathon...the rest of the year noone says a word...its sad...hopefully this gets some attention.
I'll revisit this when he toes the line in his rice husk shoes

You sir, are a man of action.
Ryan running Boston is a pretty clear indication he'll be signing with adidas, especially with the timing of the announcement. Asics can not be happy.
Why do he and his wife have to wear their religion on their sleeves and talk about it all the time?
It turns my stomach. Great runner, keep your religious crap to yourself or your family/close friends.
Is he a preacher or a runner?
