Can anyone give a little play by play on the leaders?
Can anyone give a little play by play on the leaders?
Are all the pacers gone already?
no still there
Who won the half?
There doesn't appear to be any pace-setters on the women's side as they are crawling. The men's pack is approaching 10 miles but it looks more like 20 miles as the pack is falling apart as the pace is "rich" (A great description by Toni Reavis).
Former NCAA champ Boaz Cheboiywo (sp?) is pacing the men's. He's still there. Doing a great job. Very consistent.
Thanks.
The race is on TV in a huge part of the US (over the air). Here is the list of stations:
Boaz is "pacing" by barely hanging on right now.
Some funny commentary:
One of the hosts mentioned that a slim build seems to be beneficial for marathon running.
There's live streaming radio at http://www.670thescore.com/ The link to the player is at the very top-right of the home page.
11 in 52:33. Pack all blowed up.
Hahahah it does look like Dita is wearing a thong!
They are in the 11th mile and the rabbits are gone.
This is unreal.
They are only 6 guys in the lead pick.
Kipsang and Njenga are gone!!
11 miles 52:53.
Limo starting to fade.
Now it's down to three? Could it only be three? They are showing the women. It's Mutai, Mandango and Cheruyiot I believe.
SOmeone just asked if Mutai came out of nowhere. Hilarious.
This is great! Only three guys left at 11 miles. Even the pacers have fallen off.
Previously we've seen so many stacked fields proceed cautiously and just watch each other until 30k. But with the style of wins in London, Beijing and probably here, I wonder if we are entering a new era of marathoning, where it's just understood that winning races will require racing from the gun.
women's race says otherwise, theyre walking...
Meanwhile, the women continue with their morning jog...
Compared with the men's race, this is kind of embarrassing to women's marathoning...
What are Mandango's credentials prior to this race?

She's trolling for "partners" while racing.
It is just 3. Mutai, Mandago, and Cheruiyot.
Mandago didn't make our top 5 in the preview. I did do a lot of research on him.
He is 33. He's won 5 marathons but the first three were in the 2:13 to 2:17 range. His last two wins have been in 2:08 adn 2:07. World marathon majors debut.
