Really?
What year was that?

was it fall '99 or fall '00? the '99 team was the better of the two, with brian kerwin, brian hoffman, andy filachek, and steve dichiria...can't remember who their fifth guy was, but they were 1,4,7,9 or something like that at meet of champs. they finished that season ranked three or four.
the next year's team was still good, but not nearly as good.
in jerse, they are forever known as cb[g]a[y].
the streak is a joke. CBA is a private school that robs talent from all of over monmouth and ocean counties. and then they win dual meets over public schools that would otherwise have these guys on their squad. not impressed.
It was my the fall of 1978. We lost our dual meet to CBA on our home course that fall. Our 1st place guy won then CBA all bunched together with Pete Cassagrande and won easily.

Long Branch or St. John Vianney?
Neither, Howell Township. Our slowest man ran 16:56. Although unlike CBA we didn't all run under 17:00 every meet. Bill Wells our best guy was a beast! He ran low 15's that year.

Yeah-- like they are the only private school ever to come up with that idea...
In fact, all private schools everywhere have been undefeated since the 1920's
Howell Twp guy, certainly your team did not run 9 under 17:00 at Holmdel that year, and that is the difference CBA probably did.
Your number 1 certainly never ran 15's low at Holmdel.
Please put the numbers in correct context.

Hmmm, I'll have to check the records, maybe there was a mistake in them. From the ones I have, the 1978 dual between CBA and Howell was:
CBA: 15
Howell: 49
Bill Wells was a pretty studly runner. He did run 16:26 at the County meet that year at Holmdel, though that was the old course, before the new one.
Howell was 7th in that meet,
CBA: 38
Manalapan: 109
Long Branch: 121
Holmdel: 134
St. John Vianney: 145
Neptune: 157
Howell: 185
For the record, CBA ran dual meets against Long Branch, Holmdel, St. John V, Howell, as well as the #8 team Middletown South, and the #10 team St. Rose.
7 of the 9 best teams in the county CBA ran that year.
If It appeared that I stated we ran 9 under 17 at Holmdel (we didn't) than I appologize. We had 9 run under 17 over the course of the season on various courses. My point was that CBA had some truly great teams during my years competing in HS.
