At the end I started fist pumping and I think I may have pulled my bicep. Also I woke up my 7 month old son who will now not go back to sleep. Completely worth it though to beat the french fries.

It is irrefutable that you people are complete losers for taking pride in this. There is NO plausible refutation. Case Closed.
sucks to be french doesn't it
best race ever. That was awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Remember this name.....JASON LEZAK = 46 FLAT = WORLD RECORD
The announcer was just great in pumping up our enthusiasm. Too bad our own T&F announcers can't do the same for our track relays. Imagine the excitement that would create.
I was actually screaming "GO USA". Our friends were pumping their fists in the air, yelling GO GO.
Perhaps the greatest swimming relay, or relay period, I have ever seen.
GO USA
That was quite the homer call by the announcer. I was half expecting him to yell "suck it, Frenchies!" at the end...
Je me rends - all the french you need to know!
HAHAHAHAHA
Well said
Phelps' cheering and reaction to the win was priceless. He was clearly more fired up for the relay win than his individual medal.
Oh, yeah, and eat that Frenchies!

how is there no reaction time? you wait for the guy ahead you to touch the wall. when you see him hit the wall, you react and then jump. if you react slowly, then you don't start right away. you are assuming an instantaneous reaction, which is not correct.
Only the first leg is legit for a WR, in the other legs you can see the swimmer coming it so there is no 'reaction' time. You do have to make sure that you do not leave before the touch, however, because that leads to a DQ (which happened to a Brazilian team).
What the hell!!
Thanks for ruining it for the rest of us on the west coast. They haven't shown it here yet. They're still showiing that gymnastics crap. Now that we know who wins why bother watching?
And lay off the French, I just went to Paris 3 weeks ago and it kicked ass. It was one of the most amazing trips ever. I got back with really positive thoughts about the French and their country!

Just it till you see the race. Then you'll undertand why we are all pumped as a gas station.

And that is part of what made the whole thing so great!
Incredible!
I am so glad that Swimming and track do not overlap in terms of the scheduling so I can watch a lot of both.
WOW ! What a race. I too got fired up for those Americans.
That was an awesome race!! and I hardly ever watch swimming.
Did anyone notice that the US broke the world record by 4 seconds?
Actually the top 5 teams broke the previous world record! That happening in a track 4x1 or 4x4 is unheard of.
Why is everyone swimming so fast? Is it the new suits? New training programs? Breakthrough in technique? Or does swimming not have stringent drug testing like track?
Just a thought.....5 teams breaking the world record....Makes you say....Hmmm?

The race will still be worth watching... just for that amazing last lap move at the very least. Although I can understand that it might be a good idea to have some kind of "spoiler alert" thread title, I agree w/ the poster--watch the race regardless.... it was a great performance, whether you know the result or not.
I had a good experience in Paris and hold no grudge against French people generally.... I think "trash talk" among athletes knows no national boundaries. But it's still good to see trash talkers, whatever their nationality, have to eat their words.
France is a horrible country, they deserved to lose.
trash talk:
On vous emmerde bande de barbares arriérés...
mais on vous comprend: ça doit pas être drôle d'être des exilés de l'autre côté de l'océan depuis tant de siècles.
c'est trés fin ce que je viens d'écrire!
