EXCELLENT!!!
Throw in a few quotes from his psychiatrist and this is dead on!

OP:
there is a major flaw in this equation:
release date: 2028, written by Wejo's grandson.
assuming Wejo's girlfriend is pregnant now and gives birth to Wejos son/daughter, which I highly doubt, but let's just assume... Wejo's offspring, of whatever gender it will be, then continues to give birth to Wejo's Grandson at, let's again assume a unlikely scenario, at the age of 14. That would be in 2022.
Well, then how would that grandson be able to write this piece at the age of four years???
You really could have thought of this before.
I call BS on the article. There is no way this will be written in 2028. Think about it.
Haha, yeah, Wejo having a grandson in twenty years. That was the worst prediction out of the whole thing. Ooops.
As for the suggestion that Webb will become an obscure name--obviously I don't really that it will happen, though I don't think it's as ludicrous as some people are claiming. How long were you a runner before you knew the name Steve Scott? For some maybe not long, but it seems that he's hardly mentioned in the running community any more. Or for you older runners out there, how long was it before you knew about Bob Schul, Horace Ashenfelter, or Glenn Cunningham? I bet a lot of younger letsrunners don't know a lot about those names, and their accomplishments were greater than Webb's accomplishments to date. Part of the reason I wrote this is because I was back home in Kansas the other day talking to a high-school runner there, and it comes out that the kid hardly knows who Jim Ryun was. He recognized the name, but he wasn't even sure if Ryun was a miler, let alone all of his accomplishments. And this is in Kansas! Granted, the kid was hardly a scholar of the sport, but he's a decent runner and (so I thought) not an idiot.
For myself, and probably for every twenty-something or younger letsrunner, this is the most important olympic year of my life. The United States is strong in every event from 1500 to marathon, and we will have three atheletes in each event. Behind Kenya and Ethiopia I would argue the USA will have the third deepest team in the distance events, if that matters. The fact that Webb is clearly struggling in 2008, the year that he was supposed to be a medal contender, is simultaneously disturbing and exciting to me. Exciting because it signals a time in US distance running where 3:36 shape doesn't mean you're a lock for making the team, and disturbing because it's Alan Freakin Webb. I would bet money that Webb will make the Olympic team this year, but I hardly expect it, and I don't think that a future where Webb is an obscure name in US distance running history is impossible.
why are people applauding this? the fact that you took so much time to write something so nerdy and useless is scary.
I only got about a third of the way through that and then didn't read any replies.
I quit reading after you said that Ritz was a household name and Webb was unheard of. Webb is far more accomplished that Ritz. Besides that, it wouldn't shock me if Webb still had the mile record in 2028.
In 2028 World of Warcraft and paintball will be Olympic events, so no one is going to care who ran the 1500 in 2008. Even boardercross is an Olympic event now.
The general public doesn't following track and field at all, and I really couldn't care. It's not like any of us follow quilting or Rubik's Cube competitions.
Hey everyone!
Haha. I just got emailed this article from a friend. Beautifully written, and funny! But I wouldn't give in that easy! haha. I except to be in top shape for the Trials, and *Hopefully* Beijing.
Alan.

You are assuming that Wejo doesn't already have any children.

Alan.
Nice try, but everyone knows that Alan Webb is too bald to use a computer.
What kind of hardware is Rohatinsky taking home from the 2012 Olympics? A spike wrench?
2nd most inaccurate part of the post besides the grandson thing.
The most inaccurate part, BY FAR, is saying that Nike and New Balance merged into Nike/NewBalance. If Nike bought NB, they ain't going to add them to the company name. Besides that, it was a funny read.

You're no Alan..
Alan would have said "Hi everyone!" not "Hey everyone!"
A friend told me about this post and its hilarious! By why is Rupp mentioned? Theres no way he will ever win olympic gold unless he buys the medal from somebody else. That's far less believable than Ritzenhein being remembered over Webb.

How can you tell the difference?
That was funny

The lack of spelling and grammar errors indicates that he was adopted.

Fair enough, but Rupp still has alot of time for a big breakthrough or something. All or Ritz's cards have been played.
Go back to dyestat, loser!
No one will even remember letsrun.com in 2028.
Nicely done. I like that Dubai is the 2028 site.
