Why wouldn't they be competing for 3 years if doing a 3 year degree?
Because then they would have only 1 year of NCAA eligibilty and no college would recruit for that little amount of time.
2 years over here means 2 years over in the states on a full ride. Too easy!!
What was that like 11. Truely an Exodus of biblical proportions.
Isn't Carey is an extremely low mileage guy who is very injury prone? Why would he choose Providence which is a pound it out, 80-100 mpw, on concrete, hammer sessions, type school. I think he will be good when he can stay healthy which will be half of the time - and then be burnt out or crippled by injury upon graduation (see Kelly, Fagan, Sutton, Thorpe, Keith)
What?
You're weird. :(
Who is Matt Wood?

makes sense. all the smart brits left england years ago to come here. just history repeating itself.
looks to be a good year for the teams involved.
this is a change compared to the 70s, when Africans and Irishmen were much more representative in US colleges (based upon their populations), vs guys from Great Britain. Gordon Minty was as good one; but, I thought, for the most part, back then, most of the top Englishmen Coe, Bedford, Black, Cramm, Ovett, etc, etc. thought the US college system burned out distance runners, and most were 'wary of it'- and that their club system was much better, for the long haul.
What sort of times would you be looking for to get a scholarship at college? (800-5k) Especially a strong academic one if you have good grades.
minimums: 152 800......350 1500m.....14:20 5k...and if you can run 4:55 mile pace for a 10K X-C course; you can get a scholarship somewhere, for sure. If you are 18 or 19, maybe you could have prs a little slower
For the obviously English person above who mentioned that Carey might win an NCAA title - if you cared to check the results of NC's for the last few years you would see that the guys winning NC titles are 13.20/27.30 guys. Track times but that is the level that you have to be at.
Carey will not get close to those times and if he does it will not be in the next few years.
Depends on the school I know of some good places, leave your e-mail so you can be contacted, you'd be very surprised at what is out there.

Providence was a distance powerhouse for a decade or so, back in the 70s, with their Irish connections.
Wood is a 1.51 800m runner and former double age-group British National champion.
If Wood is 18-20, I would think that he could get a scholarship somewhere in a US College.
Rory Fraser who is going to New Mexico ran 8.10 for 3000m tonight.
According too another webbo Fraser ran 8.01 tonight.
