I have to give the win in the 4*400 to illinois. They have a team that should walk away with it. Wisco has a solid relay, but don't have the stars Illinois does. If they get clean handoffs they should destroy wisco in the 4*400.
Boilermakers will win.
Where be my Buckeyes? Can they be in the top 5?
Nuttycombe thinks that there are five potential winners; Illinois is not among them and Minnesota is.
"We’re excited about the challenge and I think that we’re one of probably five teams that legitimately – I have never, never in my many years, seen so many viable teams that have a chance to win it on their given day. We’re one of those five, so that’s a good thing. I think that any one of the teams – Michigan, Wisconsin, Purdue, Penn State, Minnesota – any of those teams who have a very special weekend can win."
MN has some pretty good distance guys (R and M) as well as guys spread throughout the standings. Wisconsin is weak in the sprints and the weights (having lost Omole, although Groce has been doing well enough to keep them up a bit on that end and they are good enough to get a lot of points in the 4x400. The distance guys will go 'down distance' to hit the 800 I think. However, the Eagon/Withrow tandem is probably not going to provide a lot of points - Eagon dislikes indoors and at 6'5"+ a flat 200m track is not good for him (he ran his 3000 by using the outer lanes and avoiding the tight turns to an extent).
What I do not understand is why more good multi guys don't go to Wisconsin. Detmer could not even win at HS State in DII and was not even on athletic scholarship until maybe his junior year. Then, he end up 4th Indoors and 2nd outdoors, is top 10 US for the year and almost hits 8000 points.
Since when did Nuttycombe take on the role as God.Any of those
teams mentioned including the Illini and the Buckeye's(yes the
Buckeye's) have a legitimate shot at it this week. This will be
a tightly contested championship. You need to shine your crystal ball again sport.

There goes Lee Labadie chiming in again. Don't make yourself too transparent with your love of the Buckeye's and Illinois.
Labadie better hope Illinois and Angel get that program going better. Right now, the main highlight is Masheto alone.
The Bucks aren't there yet, but soon will be with Gary as head coach. I sure hope the mile lives up to it's billing and isn't a 1500 meter jog and 109 meter dash. Same for the DMR, but I can see why you wouldn't do more than you have to in those races to score the points you need.
Penn State also has a miler that has run 4:01 and 2:22 in the 1,000 and has potential to go sub 4:00 in the mile. He will hurt Wisco's distance points as well.
Too many schools have individual runners that will break up Wisconsin's scorers in the distance events for them to win this year.
They'll be third.

Well, all you have to do is go to Big Ten School, make the finals of the mile, and then you can be the one to make sure it's a fast race. Be sure to waive to the fans when everyone passes you at 1200.
Oh man, did you totally remind me of Abe Jones running like a 29 in the 200 at Ohio State after doing a million events! And their 400 hurdler struggling to break 60 in the finals. Very funny times... great coachingpause not
Hear Penn State went for it this year. They're doubling Lionel in the 400 and 600 (almost impossible).

Men with Vaginas tend to think as you do.
Not only is Angel stinking it up, but his field events
coach is pathetic.Clayton should of been at a Illinois, What a mess, it's a bad situation in Champaign.

And people who've never run high level track tend to think like you.
OK Ladies. Relax take a deep breath. Let us all try to get along. Thank you both for making laugh on this windy Boston morning.
There is not a whole lot of development goin on in Champaign. How does a Big Ten school looking to break into the top echelon of the conference not have anyone entered in FOUR events?!(800, mile, HJ, Hep..) There are several other events where they only have ONE entry.
I believe a team has a maximum of two scorers per event. This makes it hard for a distance oriented team like WI to rack up as many points as some on here are counting on.
A team can enter and score up to 4 athletes per event.
