Rudy=former global head of sports marketing at Nike=kind of a big deal
Rudy is a top notch guy. But we need a major personality, a retired CEO, with a track record as the boss, already a public figure, and will volunteer, just like 99% of USATF does. People on my list are Tommy Lasorda, Jack Welch, Ted Turner, etc.

It's going to be tough to fill this slot with a quality person. The USATF volunteer hierarchy is unbearable.
Tom Fleming was mentioned and seconded on another thread. He teaches 4th grade or something so he has practice communicating with USAT&F types.
Seriously, have they made any headway? I think they hired a search firm to fine a search firm or some other typical USAT&F shannagans.
SLICKO!!!
John Smith
Trevor Graham
Kevin Toth
CJ Hunter
Lance Armstrong should be the next USATF CEO.
Yes, the firm has been hired and is asking questions and making some calls. Expect a lot of unfamiliar names on the final list. The top choices from USATF insiders didn't pass the background checks.
We need a well known, highly experienced, "mega marketer", "extravert more than intravert", who may or may know know T&F:
Steve Jobs
Bruce Jenner
Mary Wittenberg
Michael Johnson
Bill Cosby
???
Jimmah Carter should be the CEO of USATF
We're currently conducting second round interviews with Malmo, Wejo, Avocados, JTupper, somerandomdude, MAYEROFF, and Rono.
We asked TXrunnergirl to apply, but she said she'd rather stick with her intern job.
Runningart2004 has been hanging around the offices, but we never even called him in for first round interviews. He just won't go home.
No one asked me?
Tom Fleming or Jim Spivey
Ross Perot
Peter Uberroth
Jesse Ventura

Ok, I have seen these names coming and going...none of them are going in the right direction.
All I can say is that I have some inside knowledge here. The next CEO has corporate background (former VP of Gatorade who signed Michael Jordan) as well as track and field background (Olympic medalist). He is head and shoulders above the other candidates in terms of his experience level in the world of marketing/sponsorship. Frazier has some more administrative experience, but apparently USATF wants to go in the commercial direction (good move).
Outside of the sport....Joel Litvin of the NBA..look him up
That would be Bill Schmidt, 1972 bronze medal winner in the jav. Why he'd give up a nice cushy semiretirement to deal with USATF is beyond me.
I still say: SLICKO!!
