In the article it says he works for Brooks. Isn't Brooks in Washington State?

Hey Pappy-
Just because you live in P-town doesn't make you an offical Mark Nenow know-it-all. Mark is a good friend and i can assure you he is training and he WILL race this spring on the track. He wants Heffernan's AR and will attempt the WR if he remains heathly. Bye the way, Mike Heffernan lives in Portland and Nenow and him offen have beers together after evening runs.
Nenow racing, and on the track? That is exciting news. What a talented guy.

It's interesting that he's doing interval work. He did almost none back in his peak years. I think that people could learn a lot from Nenow's approach to training. Lots of long, hard, hilly miles by himself, just out there pushing the pace every day.
He had a very unusual body type. It seemed as if two-thirds of his body consisted of his legs, which I guess is why he's referred to as the "white Kenyan."
These pics are great...any others of the '81 trials?
Im sure Im not the only one who would enjoy seeing them.
I had a bunch of friends running that day.
thanks.
He is working for Columbia. He worked for Brooks last year, and yes it is in Washington - Bothell to be exact.
I'm not so sure about his having beers "often" with Heffernan after evening runs unless he is a member of the MAC since Heff usually has a beer there before heading home.

just change the number in the link. 3 and 7 are posted. you can get 1 through 13.
Hey thanks a lot.
Anyone have results from this race? Thanks
Bickford is in that picture, whatever happened to him?
Eat Cheese,
I doubt very much you are a friend of Mark Nenow's. I have followed his running exploits over the years and kept track of what he is doing and he is definitely not running. The last time I saw him run was a couple of years ago at a running conference and he was training with a skinny English fellow who looked like Renee Zellweger. Other than that, he has not been running. Again I say, let it rest.

or you could just go here
http://s197.photobucket.com/albums/aa155/drjmk/I saw Mark Nenow run the OT in Los Angeles '84.
In the interview he talks of not peaking right but honestly he ran a very poor race. The pace was slow then he tossed in a 62 and a few faster laps, this in the 1st half of the race that only went in 14:05 and then bombed. Basically he just tossed the race in the garbage.
Had he run a reasonable steady pace and picked up the 2nd half then he probably would have qualified easily.
While Mark was a true stud he has nothing left to proove. Let him rest.
Teg must have depart soon thereafter -- I saw him once again today cruising along in Madison (Old University).
If a guy that ran 27:20 a few years ago decides to go after Iron Mike Heffernan's 15:41 over-50 5km AR record I say more power to him. Mark IS training. And hard. The man turns 50 tomorrow and lining up at Dunaway Track tonight at 11:46 pm (pst) with plans to make history (again) buy the time the clock strikes midnight. I suggest we put aside our personal ambitions for Mark and line that track tonight to salute his effort. Godspeed, Mark, godspeed.
