Bob Sevene was Joanie's coach
Wineturtle's thread is still on TFN site.

women's running (jogging) should be stopped, along with women's suffrage.
did you know that women have smaller brains than men? look it up. it's scientific fact. it also explains so, so much.
Do you think anyone has told Benoit that this woman is selling books (assuming anyone is foolish enough to buy this thing) by telling people she was Benoit's coach?
This from someone who has yet to master the use of capital letters.

The first guy talking, about how great Joannie's win was, is Tracy Sundlun, who's now involved in racing in Southern California and did a lot for the sport in New York City in the 80s.

2:34:47 typo fisked
you have anything to say about the fact that your brain is SMALLER than mine?

joan benoit could have been cute if she didn't cut her hair like a bulldyke.
oh yeah, i'd get up on that wench.
This is typical behavior for many of us New Yorkers. We always think we're more important than we really are. Is any of this different from one usatf official who claims to have been a "pioneer" in womens marathoning? Further investigation shows she "ran" a 4 hour marathon back in 75 or 76.

This woman is bizarre!
Where is there any proof she was a world-class runner?
Where is there any proof she coached Joan Benoit?
She claims she was a leading contender for the 1980 Olympic Marathon until Jimmy Carter's boycott - there was no Olympic Marathon for women until 1984.
She suggests she was a 2:54 maarathoner and that time would have given her a good chance at an Olympic Gold Medal. Where is the proof she ran 2:54? In what world was a 2:54 marathon an outstanding time in 1980?
I suspect the IOC and the USOC may have a little problem with her program to hand out "Olympic Gold Medals".
i agree with you, she doesn't appear to have a grip on the evolution of women's marathoning. miki gorman ran 2:47:11 in 1974 at boston and kim merritt 2;47:10 in the heat of 1976 just to put 2 performance out here by women more likely to make the "1980 olympic marathon team" before ms. petronella.
Bump.....keep it up there
This Petronella video is so bad it is worth watching for a laugh. I really enjoyed her stilted delivery as she attempted to read from cue cards - you could clearly hear and see the person with the cards. Included in this gem is yet another claim that she had to put her dream of Olympic Gold aside because of the 1980 boycott.
This lady is a hoot! My guess is that Joanie would just shrug off the claim Petronella makes about coaching her. But, I want to be in the room when Sev finds out she's saying that. Actually, I think I can see the smoke from here.
..
Let me try....
Hi! I'm Captain Track! Back in 1983, I helped carry Eammon Coghaln's jock to the Meadowlands..were it not for me, his 3:49 indoor world record would not have happened...As a matter of fact, because of the Soviet boycott in 1980, my dream of a 4:30 miler winning an Olympic gold Medal had to be shelved so I could help Eammon out...
so, do I get to wtie a book and get on TV too???
