well, i'm not sure if all those baseball players count as celebrities. that said, i've met most of the Oakland A's from '89-96 seasons...including Mark McGuire who came close to running over my (5 year old at the time) sister in his red '88 corvette (this was in '90). i also was teammates with 2 pro athletes, 1 soccer and 1 football, but i wouldn't call them celebrities.
-Bobby Knight (sat in front of me at an A's game)
-Johnny "2 bags" Wickersham (social distortion... also where i picked up my name)
-Danny McGough (also from social distortion)
-Michael Chang is attending my school right now as a grad student and i see him fairly often.
-Jim Belushi finished running at the same spot as my teammate and i in Santa Monica, but i didn't know who he was, my bud had to point him out to me.
-Walt Disney's daughter buys her running shoes at the store i work in
-I drove the ex-CEO of Quiksilver's cars, his Jaguar and his wife's Nissan mini-van
-I drove the CEO of LA Fitness home in my car, and then drove his 2004 Ferrari F-360 Spider later that day
-I drove Barry Maguire's '57 Chevy Bel Air after he dinged it on Memorial Day '05.
-Rashid Ramzi gave me one of his spikes after running the fastest 1500 ever on US soil here in LA a few weeks back... met Boaz, Lagat and Krum that afternoon as well.
-Gene Winfield (famous car customizer, most notably for '48 Mercs)
-bumped into the band Switchfoot in an alley in Hollywood about 3 years ago. nice guys.
my dad met Chuck Norris at a book signing once, and he talked with him in the parking lot for a long time afterwards (this was a long time ago). my dad has also gone outrigger coneing with Tom Selleck--Magnum PI was filmed at my dad's friend's house, and Selleck and my dad's friend are good buds and are members of the Outrigger Canoe Club on Oahu.
My mom graduated with Tom Hanks and knew him in high school.
i've been surfing several times where many well-known surfers have been in the same break as me, but i didn't "meet" them. the one most have probably heard of is Robert "wingnut" Weaver of Endless Summer II, and the late Jay Moriarity.
speaking of surfing, some of my dad's good buds were on monster garage. here's a link of about 30 pictures of them surfing with Jesse James.
maybe i'll add more later. i'm seeing Social Distortion tomorrow night, and i hope to meet Mike Ness (even though i hear he's kind of a prick), but i'd also like to meet Charlie Quintana the drummer. also, the former Bass guitarist for social distortion (John Maurer) goes to the same church as one of the girls that i coach (Rock Harbor in Costa Mesa).
