Longtime SNL fan. from what I remember about Dana, he ran a 4:24 in high school and was an xc runner in Montana. However I didn’t realize he still followed the sport, that’s awesome of him to have Hocker on the podcast!
4:24 mile in HS was extremely good for back in the early '70s.

I could easily see that being a state record for a less populated state like Montana back in the day.

Him and Doyle Brunson the best celebrity runners. I think Brunson was Texas state champ in the mile (4:43), ran sub-4:20 in college and registered interest for the NBA.

He was a year ahead of me when I ran in the CCS. He ran for a very good Carlmont team, that would have been much better if their 4:10.7 miler in 1972, Steve Miller had not stop running.
Here is results of US Postal Meet 1972 where he ran 9:49 2-mile.

Alice Cooper is a lifelong runner and reportedly ran a 429 HS mile back in the 60s, he's referred to it in quite a few interviews and it's been mentioned here on the boards many times. Read an interview where he said meeting Frank Shorter was a highlight of his life.

Alice Cooper used to play golf with Steve Scott. They showed it during the Up Close and Personal segment before the 1984 Olympic 1500m (where Steve tried to pull a Jakob and it didn't work out).

Dana Carvey ran in high school on the San Francisco Peninsula in California. Either San Carlos high school or Carlmont high school I can’t remember which. And I think he ran 4:27, but most likely on dirt.

I think Bruce Durn ran a 1:58 1/2 mile in the '50's & Robin Williams was sub 2 as well.
I'm stunned by how bad that post is. There are even ases in that horrific run-on sentence. The "." key is two to the right of the "m" key. Find it and use it.
Also, Carvey was in WW films but not in any AP films - unless you count Dr. Evil which is a rip-off of Carvey's impression of Lorne Michaels. You might be mixing Carvey w Myers.
I was surprised by Carvey's in-depth knowledge of track as well. It was very cool of him to have Hocker on.
