When you have that much at the end against the world's best runners at 5000m, you can run much faster than them all out for the distance. So, I think he will give the record a shot next year, though that may be after the current crop of 5000m also-rans with the bouncy shoes takes it down to the low 12:30s.
Yeah, it seems like he barely cares about winning 5000 golds and yet he's so good at it. It certainly appears that the 1500 is everything to him judging from his reactions to his wins and defeats.
