That is the ONLY LOGICAL explanation.... especially considering at the start of the year we were discussing the drought of the men's 800. Now we have 5 sub 1:42 guys and 8 or 9 sub 1:43 guys... 😒 WTH. WR potentially could go to 3-4 guys within the next 2-3 year. Yeah RIGHT. 😳
Tough outcome, but couldn’t really ask for anything more from him. Everybody kinda knew he was the 4th best guy on the line, had a chance to medal and executed but the top 3 guys took care of business. Congrats BH
1:41.anything wins you gold MOST years, I never thought Hoppel would be a 1:41 guy.
I remember Nick Symmonds talking about how he was astonished that he didn’t medal with his 1:42.9.
What a year for Bryce. If anyone’s got a link to the video, I’d love to rewatch the race!

In 20 years of posting I don't think I have ever been this OUTRAGED...1:41.67 and not even a F***NG medal (Please excuse my language). I'm not apologizing when I say NO WAY ALL 3 of the medalists are clean...the 800m has become a joke (best pharmacist) this year. I stand on that til the day I die 😳
Bulls..t. American record by quite a bit so best American race ever factually. The fact that he didn't get a metal (glorified ribbon) is irrelevant as all a real runner cares about is time and improving on that time as they go on...unless confused by the glory of a medal. Interesting to see what happens in the Diamond league with these guys.
Poor TV coverage for one of the greatest 800 m ever--no intros, no post race discussion or interviews. They seem to cherry pick a few events where we have the best chance of medals and largely ignore others. Despite that, I am glad the distance races got their do but Hoppel was a potential contender and should have been given some more recognition.
I agree with this take. It looked like he really stuck his nose in there and just got gapped a bit on the backstretch. The splits were incredible. Never thought I’d see a 1:41 run like that. I always assumed you’d have to be out in 49

Would be a bit strange if there was a coordinated effort in the 800 m. Why not in the 1500? Or the 400? Why only the 800 m?
Outstanding race by Grant. Selfishly hope the investigation of Sedjati leads to this being a bronze. Much respect to the top 2, they have had fantastic duels the last couple years. More fitting to see them top the podium over anyone else.
