They could be linked, but I've also heard reports that the guy was actually born in 1976.
If that's the case, he had some incredible performances well into his 40s, and the sharp drop-off began at the age of 46.
1976, per these “reports?” So he burst onto the scene at age 26/27 looking like a teenager, ran his first marathon WR at 42, broke 2 in an exhibition at 43, ran a 2:01:09 WR at 46 and 2:02:42 at 47 and now here we are. Sure, that all seems so likely.
I might be crazy but I don't know how he would have fared on a flat course.
He traditionally struggles with hills big-time, and he went from the front of the chase pack to a minute back during that first stretch of hills. Loses a minute and twenty seconds on the pack in 6K
Gap only gets about ten-twenty seconds bigger in the next 5K, and he's maintaining a little bit, even starting to regain composure. Was closer at 24K than he was at 22K.
Than the wall comes from 25-30K and he drops SEVEN MINUTES in 5K (which actually makes sense as he apparently walked up the hill and 600m at walking pace uphill could amount to six-seven minutes by itself)
But on the flat sections, he held pretty much even with the pack and actually looked pretty good for the first 15K.
I might be absolutely crazy and I'm probably alone in this but I'm not sure he doesn't run 2:04-2:05 on a flat course today.
His pretty rapid and unexpected decline over the past few years is set against a back drop of a doping bust bonanza in Kenya and his training group. Why have has his performances tailed off so quickly and at the same time of so many drug busts? The two seem too intertwined to me
Hell yeah darling, I told you so darling didn't I???????
Nobody believed me way earlier right sir????? I said this in 2023 August onwards!!!! I"m 1 year ahead of you folks!!!!
People need to learn their lessons the hard way by disbelieving me and finding it out later themselves to their dismay right???????
That's it darling!!!!!! That's why I bring so much humanitarian value to LRC, not so much objective value mind you folks!!!!!
SO YES, his performances tailing off VERY VERY VERY, TRIPLE VERY DRASTICALLY from 2:01 to 2:09, 2:02 to 2:06, 2:06 to finally DNF just WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Exacerbated by the availiability of supershoes which keeps getting faster and faster from 2016-2024 and still Eliud Kipchoge's performances tailed off still exponentially drastically, you feeling me sir????????
Moreover, he is the most professional athlete so he boasts, staying in a camp 365 days almost of the year, dedicating his life to the single pursuit of success and yet suddenly the professionalism, dedication and discipline that gave him 2:01 and 2:02 now suddenly becomes 2:09, 2:06, DNF???????
RED FLAG DARLING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Precisely right darling John Wesley!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
These dumbsters got it all wrong thinking Kipchoge was anything other than 18 in 2003!!!!!!
One look from the pictures of Kipchoge's face in 2003 and instantly I could sense the RF emitting from his face and countenance those of a teenager and not an adult!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's all RF sensing for me, it's my advancement and leg up over the rest of the world and LRC!!!!! It's subjective yes, but ACCURATE!!!!!! Things can be objective yet inaccurate, you feeling me darling??????
So don't look down on the 'subjective' doctrine you know, it will save you and give you all the answers.
So he trains for 20 years, consistently achieving new heights and not appearing to have a shuffle in his step. Then suddenly, he trained too much?
Look at the fall of Farah and Rupp. Asbel Kiprop (caught). This is eerily similar.
It is also just like Bill Rodger’s. Winning Boston one year and not making the Olympic team the following. It is the same as every late 30s runner. They are good for a long time and then they are 90s slower a year later. Then 3mins. Go down the list of everyone and the pattern is the same. And across most sports. People are doing great and they lose a step. They all think they are one training cycle to get back. It rarely happens..
Of course man, fair question. It's also a fair question indeed to ask of how Hocker suddenly beat my man Josh KERR overnight (taken to mean within ephemeral weeks or even days) in the 1500m final and how Fisher suddenly nearly outsprinted, or at least almost sprinted on par with Cheptegei and the rest of the East Africans more superior than him, in the 10000m final, you feeling me?????
These questions are qualitatively no different from asking how Kipchoge performed in the reverse!!!!!!!!

Could be. Legit question. He could also be mentally and physically done and just trying to cash in before retirement, have a serious chronic injury, doing to much advertising etc. could be a lotta things, buuuuuut, your probably right
Coulda, shoulda, woulda like what the heck bruh????????
Cut straight to the chase, drugs are more susceptible in the sport, not injury, mental illness, anxiety, business et cetera you feeling me sir???
Drugs will remove the injury, remove the mental and physical illness, remove the anxiety, and guarantee the business model because drugs are TOO RELIABLY BENEFICIAL TO HIGH PERFORMANCE!!!!
Drugs is top of the pecking order in today's anthropogenic RF existence!!!!

He's clean for this race. That sub 2 with the full out sprint at the end and wild celebrations were no doubt fueled by illegal rocket sauce.
Indeed my dear Steve!!!!! That's why I have always held a certain reverence for you!!!!!!!!!
I see myself in you and I know you see yours in me as well right sir???????????
I would have said what you said that Kipchoge was obviously too clean for this olympic marathon race with his DNF and mortal performance compared to that sub-human robotic machine-like sub 2 race with showboating!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Look Steve, we need to work as ONE mind to bring down the curtains on all the gullible fanboys and fangirls!!!!!!
