Old enough to race in a men’s event, old enough to be criticized.
You're old enough to put your name to your words. If you don't then you're nothing but an anonymous turd. You should'nt be anywhere near our sport, especially around our youth.
The only words with regard to a 16 year old who made it to the Olympics should be words of encouragement.
He is surely ill (covid) or hurt to run that slow, but that begs the question of why run him? Did they have no other options maybe? Was he honest with the team about his condition (if a problem)?
coaches made a mistake. I feel like were more concerned with getting a good story than the best team. Thankfully the other 3 runners bailed him out. I thought it was a mistake to have him lead off. Agree should've been on the mixed relay
US relay coaches have long history of "mistakes" yet they've never been held accountable for them. NOT EVEN ONCE. They kept get rehired for their next "mistake".
Explain: how does that work?

Quincy does have a reputation as a good small race competitor. I don’t think he’s ever won a major event like the USA U20 Championships as he was grown up on the AAU circuit, which is a sh!tshow.
Everyone initially complained he was not included and then cheered his addition to the relay.
Now they are saying he never should have been added.
Everyone didn't complain when he wasn't included and everyone didn't cheer his addition. (although admittedly most did). Some were and are still wondering why he was even taken to Paris.
WTF!! 47.27? How does a person who has run 44s numerous times out of the blocks, run 47.27 in the Olympics on a relay? WTF. I haven't seen the race yet, but did he cramp up or throw up while running? Was he sick before running and didn't tell the coaches? Inexcusable. You can screw up your own race, but never screw up the relay.
WTF!! We could have put any sprinter on that leg and they would have run faster than that. Damn, too bad Quincy.

Yesterday I posted that I was against him running because this is a situation for professional grown @ss men. Well... look at this result..
This kid should have years and years of 4x4s and big races in his future, but we are deep enough in this event to use one of our PROFE$IONAL track athletes and NOT a high schooler.
The Men's side of the T&F is different than the women's and this aint gymnastics. I know we all wanted the story, but we shouldnt let that get in the way of the performance.
Bullcrap. Would you have said the same of Knighton when he was 16 or 15 and 16 year old Kenyans and Ethiopians? I am glad he got the chance to run and got the experience. Kudos to him. Sometimes crap happens.
Everyone needs to chill. Clearly, mistakes were made and this young man wasn't ready for the big spotlight yet. No harm done. The USA is in the final and Quincy has learned a lot. Some of you really need to tone it down.
Why does it matter if he leads off? It's the easiest because you're in lanes and you don't have to take a baton. Lead off seems like the only place he should have been, and in retrospect he wasn't 100 and shouldn't have been chosen at all. But that's on the coaches. He's still a minor, and not the decision maker.
you can talk about his age, lack of experience etc as much as you like, and while they are of course valid points, that doesn't explain running 3 seconds off your best, looking notably ragged while doing so. Clearly something else going on here
He's been senational this year and, significantly, extremely consistent. This for me is the most head scratching perofmance of the games so far, and there have been a few

He ran two awesome relay legs at Penn Relays this spring, that's not a small race!
A lot of pressure to put on a 16 year old. Good learning experience for him. Luckily the other three bailed him out. I would not run him in the semi-final. Leave that to the experienced 400m runners.
Why are so many commenters here saying he was too young to compete? Lots of teenagers are successful Olympians. Isn't it more likely he's sick or injured? He's run 44.x three times this season.
