Mills took it further and squared up to him again as he approached while he was being interviewed by Eurosport saying "this Frenchman took me out" then went on to whine about France saying there's little chance of him being reinstated after being taken out by a Frenchman.
Don't know why this is downvoted, this is what happened. Acting like a petulant football player.
Because it's me. I'm a legend in these parts. If I posted "the track at St Denis is purple" it'd still get downvoted because it's coming from me.
Agreed. Incredibly poor form of him to go attacking French athlete afterwards. Mills was responsible for taking the field out. Very poor form. Helps GB athletes when Sir Seb can help get them free passes through though.
Yann Schrub and Stewy McSweyn are in the final now - qJ. Stewy was clearly impeded but don't remember what happened to Schrub. Now we're at 22, more than either heat, how will this go I don't know...

If you look again, you'll see Hugo Hay drift out into Mills (from the inside of lane 1 to lane 2).
Mills was simply trying to protect the space he was about to run into.
You can't just put a block on a guy because you're not running as fast as him.
That was literally the 3rd time within a few hundred meters that mills was trying to get into space where there was none. Literally like 30 metres earlier he also bumped into hay

lol this is going to be a bonkers run if someone doesn't take it out hard. Maybe that's why they advanced Stewy. lol

This is getting ridiculous. Might as well little q everyone who finished the race at this point. What a disaster this has been with these 20+ person heats and no time incentive.
This is what happens when you jog slowly round for so many laps and every one is a 1500m I only want to run 150m runners.
far better to have knock out athletics, have as many people as you want and DQ the last place runner each lap and/or have max time of arrive from when the first athlete crosses the line each lap.
stops this mindless jogging and kicking and we see some real racing

Looks like 21, but still RIDICULOUS! Would have been 22 had Ndikumwenayo jogged across the finish line as he would have been advanced as well, but he was possibly injured and knew it when he stepped off.
There have never been more than 16 in an Olympic final, ever. We are in unprecedented waters.

Tehcnically qJ. What this means per WA's definitions:
qR Advanced to next round by Referee
qJ Advanced to next round by Jury of Appeal
So apparently the referees decided most of those should go through before any protest happened, and both McSweyn (AUS) and Schrub (FRA) protested/appealed and were successful? If so maybe there are more to come, though that would make the field big...

It appears Mills and Giles might have the same wrestling coach.
Big fan of Stewy, but I see no reason he should advance. Yes he got slowed down, but there was no scenario where he ended up top eight from his position.

This would be a big deal if it were an 8 or a 1500, but the Ethiopians are not going to let this be a slow final, which means that the marginal qualifiers are gonna get shot off the back. As long as they don't get lapped, they won't matter.
Time to set reasonable minimum times for the rounds.
For example, set a 13:45 time limit for the heats. Any runner that doesn't go under that time is eliminated even if they were to win the heat. Worst case you just end up with a smaller final. No issues unless every single athlete colludes and refuses to run faster than the minimum time.
