He looked comfortable. I could be making something out of nothing but I thought Jakob might have been a bit perturbed to look over in the last 50 and see Kerr right there looking relaxed, after having turned a 61 opening lap into a 3:32 race.
Jakob looks around at the end of every qualifying race to ensure his position is safe. It’s hard to imagine he’d expect Kerr to be anywhere other than right next to him.
Both have looked incredible through the rounds. They seem to have gold and silver pretty well locked up between them.
I mean theoretically he or anyone can but why hasn't he done it when everyone else has? I am not sure he can run 3:27.
I’m not sure either. But he just ran the last 1100 meters of that race at 3:26.6 avg. pace with a 40.0 last 300 and made it look easy. That’s why Jakob might be unsettled.
yeah, personally I hate Kerr, but had they gone all out down the homestretch, I would have taken Kerr due to the positioning. It would be the most difficult and puzzling 1500m final for Jakob so far in his life. What should he do? Front-running and sitting at the back both don't seem to be the right answers.

You are right. If both Kerr and Jakob ran 3:26:6 average pace for 1100m and look both as comfortable as each other then Jakob is in trouble because Kerr looking so good wouldn’t sweat going one more lap at the same pace and equal Jakobs pb. But then with Kerr’s superior sprint technique and ease of movement Jakob still loses in every sit and kick race against Kerr in the end.
there seems to be no choice of lesser of 2 evils? Jakob has to pick his poison now and die by one of them.
question is of he dies again this time will he kneel and beg for forgiveness from Kerr?
watching that 1500 I couldn't help think Kerr was rope-a-doping a bit, refusing to take the lead, laying back, trying to give Jacob a false sense of confidence.
We have never spoken with each other so that’s spurious claim of yours.
but I read Nick’s points and I concur. What’s that to do with Khamis? If anything all I’m saying is that Khamis was earlier than Nick and everybody else to the finality of Kerr winning the gold and thus demonstrates his eerie and unusual fitness about the future.
Did you see how easy and effortless his running was in this SF ? No doub he is smashing Jakob Ingebrigtsen next Tuesday. Nuguse looks very strong too, he is a threat.

NGL if I were Jakob, I might actually just let someone take the lead. I mean, for him, it's either gold or nothing as he already had the gold before. I'm pretty sure Kerr would be forced to take the lead, because he sure as well doesn't want the pace to be slow and he's the one who really needs that gold.
If JI takes the lead, while he can guarantee a silver minimum, it's extremely unlikely he could run away from Kerr, but if he doesn't do that, he may be able to reverse the whole situation, and the pressure would be back on Kerr, and Kerr would be the de facto pacer.

Running 3:26.6 pace the final 1100 is much different that running a 3:26.6 for the full 1500. None of them felt that first 61 400.

Kerr would happily sit in for 800 if it went slow. He'd back his ability to wind it up and kick like he did at Pre. It's not like Kerr is only good at kicking in a hard race, he's an elite kicker in a slow race as well. He ran a 50 second last lap in a 3:40 race at British champs in 2021. So I don't think Kerr would take the lead if Jakob held back. If Jakob did sit back, it's more likely Nuguse takes it on and backs himself to hang on for a bronze
Question is does Jakob have the moment to moment instinct during the race to make correct split second decision?
we know Kerr has a remarkable history of good race instincts and even took the lead at bowerman mile and won. But Jakob is just pure bad at having that killer touch which Khamis always talks about. So even if Kerr is forced to lead but Kerr doesn’t feel forced because his instincts and acumen will negotiate away any ‘force-ness’ and convert into the ‘killer touch’.
For me even if Kerr leads he still wins like at bowerman mile

Concur. Sorry for my oversight. Assumed too much that another 400m would be a walkover. Anyhow though I’m going with prescient futuristic man Khamis and say Kerr wins gold.
Not sure if Khamis thinks Kerr would thereafter break the WR 1500m in Brussels or Silesia as he would be on a roll after winning gold.

Jakob also closed the Budapest semi in 51, waving to the crowd and going from the back of the pack. I think they're about equal in this racing scenario.
That said, what I said was a moot point as Jakob seems to really want to win convincingly (aka front-running) and be regarded as the GOAT hands-down. I bet the Doha race has had a lasting impact on him.
