I think it’s the best group of three Americans I’ve seen going into a 1500m final.
Hocker tucked tight in with the world’s best. Nuguse went wire to wire. Kessler looked smooth and seasoned.
Yes in the second race. In the first that is only sort of true and needs context. Hocker ran well, but JI and Kerr ran quite slow to their PRs. Hocker ran within 2 seconds of his PR but JI and Kerr were 5 to 6 seconds off. If JI makes the final a 3:27ish race, only Kerr has the speed to keep up. JI ran 3:26 3 weeks ago so he is sand bagging righ now.
Cannot see an Oly Final run in 3:27pt.
No rabbit. Winner probably more like 3:29.0 (which is plenty fast).

That means Hocker isn't winning, way to fast for him.
We’ve come along way since 2022 when we had to watch Josh Thompson, Cooper Teare, and whoever the hell was our third guy that year pretend like they could compete on the global 1500 stage
Only thing that matters is how they place. If two are 8 thru 12 and maybe one is 5th is still not really a strong team. It feels inevitable JI and Kerr will medel.
Still better than Tokyo when only Hocker made the final. Fair point though, if Hocker is around 5th and Yared and Hobbs are further back then it won’t really be that much more impressive. But I think Hocker has a great shot at the bronze at least.
Everyone is focused on Jacob and Kerr but I think Hocker could squeeze in and surprise for second if the pace is slow. Yared has the potential as well, but he is going to have to want it and be more aggressive and position himself correctly.
I see the final playing out the same way with Jacob leading but he is going to have to dig in deep because Kerr can strike at any time.
Several months ago there was much talk about how hard it was to make the British 1500 team. Only Kerr is a factor on Tuesday.
All three Americans are capable of nabbing a medal.
Can't wait for Tuesday, August 6 at 2:50pm ET
Yeah there was hype around UK and Australia. I’d say Kessler and Gourley slot about the same. This is the best unit ever with London 2012 a close second. Manzano career-best season, Centro really good and honestly could’ve been two on the podium (albeit weaker era) if Makh Daddy wasn’t sauced out of his mind.

Bronze? I think the American has a distinct chance to win if the race plays out to his strengths.
I could definitely see a scenario where Kerr and Ingebrigtsen worry about each other too much and someone sneaks by. Could be recency bias, but I don't remember clenching in a semi nearly as much as today. Cracking stuff

I think we should all take a step back and be grateful that we just saw three Americans run 3:32 or faster for 1500, while running conservatively, knowing that having gas for Tuesday is all that matters.
Can see a US sweep of the medals. Hocker, Kessler and Nuguse. They are clearly the best of the lot. Only two Brits in the final and neither are medal material. The Norway guys maybe a threat, but our guys are better - as they were literally jogging to qualify.
Two from the Netherlands and none from Ethiopia? Wild year in 1500.
Honestly more surprised by Spain not having anyone close. And going back a few years, no Morocco is wild though all in all Essayi with an impressive last few races.

Spain makes some sense considering Katir is serving his suspension. A bit surprised Garcia-Romo didn’t make it out of the heats though
