She most likely wishes people adored her like they do BOL. People like and appreciate BOL because she is friendly and smiles to the crowd. I like watching BOL win races, it is motivating. She is the complete package.
Do you think Syd really wishes that people adored her more? Syd is going to do what Syd does and win gold in the 400h. She’ll get another in the 4x400.
I like Bol a lot. I like that she competes and I like her attitude. She just isn’t going to beat Syd. At another place in time Bol would be dominant. She has the misfortune of competing at the same time in history as Syd is.
I wish Sydney raced more, but I am neither her nor her coach, so I assume they feel they are doing what is best for her race(s). And her record is hard to argue with.
That being said, I agree: I like Femke a lot. As someone else said, she's got the dawg in her -- she'll race anyone, any time, any event, and never disappoint. She just happens to be in the Sydney era.

USA entitlement is coming back to bite it in the butt.
See, you are answering with a self-absorbed American mindset and proving the point i wanted to mke.
I don't want to know what she's thinking about her own race. What I want to know is does she think at all, "Why aren't I out there running for the stars and stripes?"
It's quite hard to explain to my wife and 6-year old why the top US stars don't want to run for their country. I didn't want to get into , "Shoe execs don't value this event at all so they don't bother. In the short term, financially the mixed 4 x 400 does nothing for Sydney. Lots of downside."
Sydney *is* running for her country, just in different events.
And why make the mixed relay about Sydney? There are other US stars who didn’t run it, and our women aren’t the reason we lost. It was our subpar third leg by Bryce Deadmon. Put Quincy Wilson on that team, and we would have won gold.
Maybe she is like most of this message board and was hoping the Netherlands would beat the USA. Gee she has something in common with us self haters afterall.

Exactly! If she was around 8-10 years ago she would have been the 400H version of Mo Farah.

SOME people. I neither like nor dislike Bol. She's a runner. She's boring. There's nothing especially interesting about her except her running.
Great rhetorical question. No doubt that Bol is the more likeable athlete because she obviously values running with a team and for her country. Sydney doesn't always project that. With nearly a week break between the events I don't think it will impact her individual event. So I'm happy to see her run. It made the race very interesting. But the underachiever in the race was Deadmon. He really struggled in his 3rd leg. A fresh runner like Wilson or Michael Norman would have opened an insurmountable 2 second lead on the field. In fact, the Americans could have brought a couple sets of fresh legs onto the team and really dominated the field and give the event the respect it deserves.
