This is the first 18 month period in which OAC athletes were switched to full threshold training, after being one of the last groups holding out on it.
This is just wrong. They aren’t doing double thresholds. Ritz has always done single thresholds with the group, ever since it started. They typically do 6-8 miles worth of volume in one session. Joe Klecker has posted pretty much all of their training the last four years. Their training hasn’t changed a ton over that time. It seems they do harder workouts now in the last six weeks or so leading into big races. But for the most part, they’ve always pushed volume and intensity. They just aren’t getting away with it like they used to. Ritz has always been bad at peaking his athletes. The group as a whole is at a higher level now. In 2020/2021, they were young and new. Nobody has expectations. Now they’re older and have pressure on them. The poor results are more obvious now. There is more inconsistency now. More injuries. Perhaps due to pushing the envelope a bit more.
