Confidence is important, so I am glad he believes this quote. It is a bit silly though. Nuguse ran from the front at the trials and still barely lost to Hocker. Kessler is 21 and could make big improvements at any moment.
That being said, he is definitely a gold medal threat in Paris since his kick is insane.
A few minutes ago, I started a thread with a bold quote from Sedjati aout how he's thinking of the WR in Paris. Well here is one from American Cole Hocker for the 1500.
“If I stay healthy, I don’t think anyone can beat me. Definitely not in America,” said Hocker in a David Woods feature for Dyestat.
Here is another quote that I"m making QOD.
“In 2021, I could not have run a sub-13-minute 5K. So I got my drawers blown off in the Olympic final,” he said. “I was holding on for dear life. And now I’m accelerating off of 3:32 pace. “And I think that comes from the 5K and not the 800.”
Between Nuguse playing with his turtle, and Kerr and Ingebrigtsen sword fighting each other, Hocker will be bringing home the gold for team America. Count on it.

This is a BLATANT sign of disrespect for our 3:43 miler the Goose. I am now hoping Hocker fails. I cannot stand that sort of nonsense from Hocker who has done nothing to speak of on the world stage. I hope he was misquoted.

hocker is way faster than Nuguse at the end. Nuguse is only competitive in a certain kind of race. Hocker can medal under many scenarios. In the Olympics that is meaningful because no one is pacing to Nuguse's preferred splits.

WHAT? You say Hocker can medal in ANY kind of race? Where is the evidence that he can medal on a race which goes 3:27.89, 3:28.02 and 3:28.15?

OK I misread your post. You said MANY, not any, scenario. My bad. But Goose is not as you portray him. He can medal in several different scenarios.
I think it's possible that Hocker could medal. Maybe even win. But I think it's equally likely he'll finish like 8th or 10th; he's not the most savvy runner tactically.
I also don't think he'll ever be faster than Nuguse.
Is this the same letsrun site that complains about track athletes being bland and wondering why the sport doesn’t get press? I’m confused why anyone is mad about this. Obviously Cole SHOCKER is good. Outwards confidence and this mindset is only going to bolster him and his competitors

Centro was never setting records, but he was sinning races and a gold mettle.
