This is absolutely bonkers if true, for multiple reasons:
1. He has not developed anybody thus far at Tennessee and, besides Nuguse (generational talent) and Jacobs, who did he develop at ND?
2. His character has been dragged thru the mud on LRC this entire summer and UT has had, by my count, at least 6 of last year's freshmen plus 2 of last year's sophs transfer out (with Abdalla in the portal to boot)
3. UT's incoming class is excellent, they have several impact transfers too, and a few stars from the 2025 HS class have already committed there
PS what is a VIP thread @ rojo? I thought this was America
The experts and haters on letsrun “always know better” yet time after time, they are proven wrong and stay home devastated.
“He’s so trash tho”
”Worst hire ever”
”They caused mass exodus”
”They intentionally ruin young athletes dreams”
”They don’t develop” (XC podiums, multiple all Americans during career)
”Has done nothing” (Yet they are in higher positions than you)
It’s funny how these coaches are supposed to be bad and terrible yet they keep getting hired and put into positions that not only pay well but are high value.
What is it next letsrun, is the NCAA an Illuminati that hires the worst possible people to provide a source of entertainment, and take on revenge on the actual good coaches that post and hate on here?
“As a fan, I don’t want to see this…no I'm not entitled or anything, I just think this is unacceptable and should’t be allowed…yes my opinion is better than the hiring committee’s, I’m superior”.
His entire staff quit on him. Almost of the team left. Not sure what that means but I’m thinking red flag. The guy is hard to work/run for. Absolutely awful job at Tennessee as well.
R.I.P. University of Colorado Track & XC. You had a good run.
I put the Over/Under on this guy getting investigated like Wetmore and Burroughs at three years. I know two former Tennessee athletes that couldn't wait to get away from this guy. Super recruiter, terrible coach and awful talent manager. Get ready to hear tales of injuries, mental health issues, teammates fighting, etc.
It is amazing how Brosnan keeps coming up on Letsrun as a candidate for big time Director jobs. People who are in charge of hiring coaches at universities are not "fans". They look objectively at resumes and accomplishments. There is absolutely zero chance a guy who has one year as an assistant and then was let go, is going to get a job as a director with no experience being a director at any level. There are too many to count, coaches who have far more experience and far less baggage. Let it go people. Brosnan isn't getting any of these jobs.

Are you unfamiliar with the concept of a "joke" or a "meme"? Honestly how can people on these boards be so clueless as to fail to detect obvious jokes?

Friendly reminder, all coaching threads on letsrun are the worst as there are so many jealous wannabe coaches who just tear everyone else down.
Let me respond to some os the posts on here.
1) Who had he developed besides two NCAA champions? Are you really writing that?
3) I do feel bad for incoming freshmen. That's why you should NEVER go to a school jsut for the coach.
The VIP thread on this was when I was posting that I thought he was going to be the coach. I always say I tell the supporters club members thing I'd tell a friend at a bar. It wasn't confirmed so I put it there.
It's probably a 50% pay cut, but if he recruits well they should contend for an NCAA title every year. Would you take a 50% pay cut for a 25% chance to win every year vs a 0% chance to win?
I would absolutely move from TEnnesee to Colorado if I Was him and could afford to live in Boulder.
1) Recruiting distance runners to Tennesee is hard. Recruiting them to Boulder is easy. Sean is a good recruiter and Wetmore barely lifted a finger in recruiting. I expect Colorado to instantly be very good again.
2) He has way more job secruity. I'd be shocked if he fails at Colorado as it's hard for people who know what they are going to fail at a place that is a natural mecca for distance runners. He could be fired at any moment at Tennessee. He wasn't the pverall director and the SEC is extremely cutthroat. Now he's in charge of all of the scholarships and the NIL Money if wants to use that versus having to buy talent with NIL. IF he stayed at Tennesee, what happens in 5 years if Tennessee just gives up on NIL for track? You are screwed. At Colorado, you know they will ALWAYS have a distance oriented team.
He just has way more job security and chance for success at Colorado. I think a lof of young coaches don't realize how much the school matters. Recruiting athletes to Iona is way harder than WIsconsin. Same thing with Tennessee as compared to Colorado or Notre Dame. He likely realizes he wants a distance brand behind him.
When you are recruiting, you may find recruits may LOVE you but there is probably another coach that they love amost as much at a better school so you want to coach at a better school. For distance running, because of the atltitude, Colorado is way better.
TLDR; It's a total brainer to leave in my opinion. He gets one of the top 5 distance jobs in America, just less money. Way more job stability as well. And he's still making way more than he did at Notre Dame.
I’m sure nobody is happier about this than Dylan Jacobs. Can’t imagine being a pro runner in Knoxville was easy.
I don’t think people appreciate how poorly CU was doing in recruiting the last few years. Their effort level was borderline non-existent. Many of their best athletes were just transfers who just showed up on their doorstep. If Carlson could recruit in South Bend & Knoxville, I’m sure he will bring in top-5 classes every year In Boulder. I think the talent upgrades he will bring will make up for any deficiencies in other areas of his coaching. And his success with Jacobs shows he’s capable of producing champions.
I probably would have preferred Cornfield, but I think Carlson will do well enough.
I'm a Tennessee fan and I saw Dylan Jacobs running around Knoxville a week after USA trials where he got 5th. Sean moving to Colorado is a win for his post-Collegiates as well. I don't blame him.
Tennessee has always been a sprint focused school and has a great history of elite sprinters, Ross brings that.

You’re right because he has a coaching job set up in the fall for the 100th time.
