I’ve had experiences with Matt in the past. They’ve been nothing but positive, but this is ridiculous. I DM-ed him on instagram asking for a statement and he said that

Obviously oblivious to the fact that his commenting is something I’m reading….
My issue with how this is presented in this thread and those screen shots is that there seems to be something missing/cut from the exchange between Matt Fox and his client, Itai Spiegel.
If it is exactly as presented: client seeks advice after race from online coach; online coach issues generic Chat GPT response; client complains about generic response; online coach threatens to publicly shame client + threatens legal action + spews gibberish and vitriol at client... well online coach Matt Fox must have been having a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day, and should issue a heartfelt apology. Again though, it seems like there is something missing from the exchange.

The type of things he said is not him “having a bad day”. Those are things you don’t say unless that’s exactly who you are as a person.

It's true, I'd like to know what Matt is referring to when he says that Itai broke terms and conditions. But still, it's hard to imagine what could possibly have went down to warrant such a response.

Probably isn't allowed to share private communications from sweatelite publicly or with friends.
sounds fake and made up. Some of those messages have a cursor on them, indicating that they are not messages, but being typed and faked.
These messages have such textbook Matt Fox spelling and grammar errors. I’ve seen some of his other infuriated attacks posted here in recent years, and they always have the same sort of errors in them.
I can’t really pinpoint them all without going deep, but some of his written quirks that stick out are his: accidental repeated words, direct address with person’s name after an insult, and harping on something seemingly very unrelated and completely doubling down on it. Also the “I’m just having fun with this now” into anti-semitic remarks reminded me of something else I read or listened to from him.

If the full text made Fox look better he'd publish it. We know this for a fact
Wow. That is some of the most insane escalation out of nowhere. As others have said, pretty much everything heard about Fox has been bad news and seems like he's been chased around the running world. I could still enjoy the Sweat Elite videos when he was just known for posting fake training on his website but this and some of the other stuff leveraged at him is where I'm done enjoying the content and blocking Matt out of it. It was also very telling to me that in the videos they did with SOVA showing Cooper and Cole working out, Rachel was pretty much nowhere to be seen. I figured she either knew what Matt was all about from her Boulder days or just immediately got a creep vibe and stayed far away. Smart girl!

there are a few ShoeTubers in the Chicagoland area who run around with ole Matty - would be interesting to get their take on the situation. would love for them to come out with quick post/ IG story in support of Spiegel but no need to drag themselves into the mess!!

Not wanting to be dragged into the mess is why most Fox stories stay as sort of unconfirmed rumour. This is how he treats people and most people decide screw this I'm staying away from / out of it rather than go public.
Even if what he says is entirely untrue, it's still stressful to deal with it.
So they keep it quiet, and just tell friends what happened, so word gets around slowly and low key, but we don't see the full detail.
Fair play to these guys for calling him out publicly despite the vitriol he throws their way in return.
Both shocking and unsurprising at the same time given the previous rumours. I like(d) Sweat Elite - YouTube, not the dire Podcasts (TBF I haven’t listened in a while, so these may have improved).
In some ways I actually feel a bit sorry for him. We may not know the full story, but it seems pretty legit and clearly these are the messages of someone who needs to take a few deep breaths and own their actions.
I haven’t dealt with many people with serious mental conditions (like bipolar disorder), but I have dealt with plenty of angry alcoholics. To be honest his rage and lack of reasoning reminds me a lot of the alcoholics with angry tendencies I’ve known, though it’s also possible he wrote these in a completely sober condition.
What’s most shocking to me is MF threatening to post screenshots of the convo, like lol of what? You’re the one being massively racist 😂
Open racism against somebody is quite a bit stronger than “Harassment”. Add this to death threats, revenge porn, serial plagiarism and straight up fraud to Matt Fox’s list of good deeds.
do people not research online coaches before they sign up? a cursory background check on Fox should tell you enough to make you steer clear.
it’s not like there’s a shortage of coaches out there.
I think what's sad is a cursory check on Fox probably paints him in a good light because he has a solid running background, a website that on the surface looks legit, and a YouTube channel posting workouts with top athletes. You have to do some digging to find out that a lot of the training on his website is either false or just plagiarized from somewhere else. As for the more serious and disturbing personality traits, I've only heard about them here on the message boards and honestly this thread is the most concrete evidence I've ever seen on exactly how he behaves. I think a lot of people would just see his running credentials and his curated social media outlets and think he's a totally legit.
